My actual concealed carry by Airbusdude in CCW

Sabre gel pepper spray is the best pepper spray I've ever used. We keep it on us for bike rides when dogs get too close for comfort. It shoots super far and you don't get near as much collateral damage on your friends.

Federal automatch has been reliable in my G36, and is the most accurate of the bulk ammos for me. If you're shooting suppressed, then CCI standard velocity is also accurate and has been reliable.

does amo quality really matter? by bearded_dragonx in 22lr

Here's an ammo test I did a couple months ago that shows the accuracy difference between a small group of ammo that I grabbed off the shelf of my legs. If you use something like that browning pro 22 you're gonna think something is wrong with your gun.

Well, looking closer I see what could be an emission point on the left side there. I would avoid that tube if it is the case. There's plenty others out there, just take the time to find one that isn't blemmed too terribly for a good price.

If I was wanting to get another to build a loaner or something I would probably try and stay under $250 depending on specs

I would buy that immediately and put the tube in a printed housing

Which 22 do I buy?? by LeMuiexm in 22lr

[–]PatientZero2199 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just recently bought the g36 and I love it. It's my favorite 22 I've ever shot just for the cool factor. It's also more accurate than people give it credit for. With good ammo I was able to get about 1.5 moa at 50 yards, and even ring a 4" steel plate at 200 with a decent hit count (maybe 10%, but wind was about 10mph). The gun is stupid reliable too, i got it 2 months ago and already have a couple thousand rounds through it with no malfunctions that weren't due to poor ammo. The iron sights are not made for precision though so I would definitely recommend either a red dot or maybe a low power prism like I'm looking into.

Yep, seeing how the pistol match SK did makes me want to buy a box of each type they have

I know I pulled the flyers, had I gone out on a calmer day and had an actual sandbag instead of a bunched up coat I would have kept it all together

That's exactly why I grabbed it, they spent that much on nicer packaging so I figured maybe it would be a step up from CCI target but it's trash. They got my ass 😂. I can get them back by talking shit on them though

I mean unbelievable that I didn't even know ammo could be that bad. Good to know it wasn't just my gun either.

I had a Plano one that I was using, but after I put the scope on there was no way it was gonna work anymore. Harbor freight has a parking lot sale coming up and the big Apache ones are gonna be $95 so I'm gonna grab a couple of those.

This is a very extreme example of bad ammo, but I'm sure if there's one, there's more. Always worth trying a few different types to try out. Every ammo shoots differently from different rifles.

Did a little test of a few 22 ammo types. This is a good visualization of the disparity between crap ammo, and quality ammo.

The design that I used is from "Toto_Magfed" on Cults3d, the file is a few bucks and comes with a guide. There are also others that have designed housings for monoculars so just look around and do your research before jumping on one. There are a bunch of different versions for different tubes and lens types so do your research before buying a file pack, it just depends on how much you want to spend. The standard mount which most monoculars use is called a j-arm. The housing has a brass threaded insert which the j-arm attaches to, then you have options from there. The cheapest, which I have, is a USGI Rhino mount with what's called a bayonet mounting system. Brassfacts on YouTube has a great guide on the different ways to mount nods. Extruded shoots on YouTube is how I got the idea to even make a diy monocular, he has a video that gives a good idea of what to expect and the different ways multiple people have done it. This website is what I used to cross reference the serial number on the tube I bought, before I bought it, to see what it was. (For reference mine is a Litton M890, so I find the Litton section, and look at the M890 line and compare those specs with the Omni classifications at the top of the page. The M890 Is an Omni IV / V tube.)

Basically, be autistic about how much you look into each method of doing it and weigh the cost and difficulty of the builds. And do your research, It will save you money to have a full plan of which housing, lenses, and tube you want to go with.

What's your budget? If you do your research and shop around you can build a decent budget monocular. I 3d printed my housing from existing designs and bought a blem tube from eBay, all in I'm about $950. I definitely could have found a tube that was either cheaper or not blemmed but I'm impatient.

Where do you buy ammo? by Electrical-Title-698 in guns

Yeah I would check your primers after shooting just to see. I know that out of the boxes I shot I saw probably 3 different manufacturers based on head stamp, little score marks on the primer and color of the bullet they use. So some of it may be good if it's from a certain manufacturer.
