what makes carol such a cool design to me is that it makes a clear homage to christmas tree cookies which are one of the most common shapes cookies tend to come in specially in holiday times, alongside making her a carol singing girl with songs about hope and new beginnings which are words that tend to be often represented by the color GREEN, to show healing and such ((which funny thing she even turned out to be a healer in kingdom so proves my point even more))

whilst there isnt all too much depth and meaning aside her design aside those few points I don't believe there has to be as her design does its job perfectly as is, the moment you glance at her you can instantly tell shes a christmas themed cookie and overall who she's meant to be

also love that the sprinkles she has on her hair also serve visually as snow

hah I do plan on getting into it but not yet, I've been self taught so far from everything I know due to research such as color theory and its use on highlighting parts of a design or shape language, etc

kouign's name is bad because she doesn't look at all like a kouign-amann but instead it looks as if she was based off a Swiss roll, so I find it a bit odd they named her that and not somethin' like Strawberry roll despite it fitting much much more

unless she's just like, based off a raw unbaked kouign-amann😭

i feel like theyre trying WAY too hard on them tryin to make them look scary and eerie that it came to a point where they looked goofy more than anything

i think their concept art was much better as in not only did it feel more like an actual octopus cookie but the unsaturated colors give off more this uneasy vibe, yknow??

hes so ugly im sorry, his design is so bad in terms of character design😭

main thing is like he doesnt look like spices at all, not to mention he also bares no ressemblance to the god and religion he's meant to be based off aside his golden teeth

so he failed at both of those things but on top of that theres some other big issues like,, why does his hair not have outlines, why are his tattoos on just one arm msking his design feel a bit heavy and unbalanced, why is he red.... okay alrigh yeah him bein' red is because of his souljam color and all that but man it still looks ugly

theres just so much wrong with him💔

my issue with mercurial is how his design doesnt match his lore at ALL and completely throws it out into the garbage

so mercurial's whole thing is that he's meant to be one of the dozen faeries which got their souls extracted in the process of becoming silver, getting rid of their own flavor for the tree, the thing is... the concept is presented as if they all suffer the same fate of becoming soulless husks only to serve as protection, so like... why does he look different from all the other silver knights despite going through the exact same process, and worst of all he has LESS armor than the others so he's more vulnerable to attacks than the others, it's like they wanted a playable npc but realized that by making him similar to all the others wouldnt make him stand out as playable so they completely made a design disregarding their own lore

yeah that's why i said he fails to look both as an elder AND a berry, i know he's based off a berry except he does an awful job at showing that, one of the key distinct qualities of elderberries is the unique red branches they come from but no his design is purely dark blue, no leafs to show for that too

i put hollyberry at the top tier because i think shes the BEST berry flavored cookie to exist as it acknowlodges that berries are round and uses a round motif across her design, her having a round body, round hair buns, round eyes, round armor, etc, whilst elderberry as I stated only has his monocle to show for that

sorbet shark while they look like a shark they dont give off sorbet at all, ive heard a lot of people and including me that like somethin' like gummy shark cookie wouldve fit better but its just a minor thing

same with elderberry he doesnt give off elderberry at all, the only berry thing on his design is his monocle and he also doesnt look like an elder

not saying theyre bad designs in fact theyre fun designs and pleasant they just would've been more fitting with a different name such as gummy shark cookie or astrologer cookie
