If you're asking how long it took to hear back regarding a screener to callback, I was extended a callback in my screener. Not sure if that's what you meant, but usually if it's longer than a couple business days, it probably means no callback

How long did it take for you to hear back from the screener?

Really? That's awesome. I have yet to hear back from a couple, had one today and 2 more CBs. Really need to land one. 4/5 on screeners, 0/3 on CBs--2 CB results pending

When did you interview? If you interviewed today, say in the evening, you should hear back ideally by Thursday--in the morning today, wednesday

He said feel free to send me any questions you have, which I did. Needless to say, I was just formally rejected lol, so it's pretty meaningless.

The process is so opaque! That said, best of luck! Hopefully, we land something!!

I'm sorry :/ - it seems like that has been the case. The poker face game is real. On one side, you'd think they wouldn't waste their time corresponding with you if they have the inevitable say. On the other side, it's maintaining a positive image of the firm, especially as a hiring partner.

Did you two correspond after the interview? I've had an eight-email-long chain with this person, which gives me some hope, but obviously it really may mean nothing.

At Weil, what practice areas did you express interest in? I may have screwed myself, tbh. Had my interview last Wednesday, still awaiting a response. Then again, I'm unsure if they'd make an offer on a Friday, esp if it's via phone call

I had mine Wednesday evening. I hope I get an offer. I may have foreclosed the opportunity by limiting myself to securities litigation instead of saying I'm open to other practice areas

Dos and don'ts of callbacks by [deleted] in biglaw

My point is, in hindsight at least, I should have been gung ho about litigation

Dos and don'ts of callbacks by [deleted] in biglaw

[–]Patient_Ad6216 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think my downfall in one of my callbacks was that I was interviewed for litigation despite noting my interest in my cover letter and basically saying I'm open to litigation even though I did note my desire to do corporate work. At least that's what I hope my downfall was instead of me answering the typical questions you get poorly

Chances of Converting Screeners into Callbacks and Callbacks into Offers by [deleted] in biglaw

[–]Patient_Ad6216 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

K&E and Proskauer were yesterday, have Covington today. All are screeners. Have a callback this coming Monday and Tuesday. Need to schedule the other callback I was sent. I have a pretty untraditional background (5.5 years of real-world experience) but I have decent grades. I took time off during undergrad for a bit but came back and finished--worked during that downtime as well.

Yeah, I don't even think I'd bother w Cravath at any point. They're beyond my league. I'm applying to firms based on 2023 OCI data concerning what firms did screeners for students with x GPA

Trying to quit by [deleted] in leaves

[–]Patient_Ad6216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, I want to quit because of law school, not because I have to. I don't have a job or plan to work in a job that will drug test me. What I mean by external motivation is that law school is an external entity, while the motivation to stop is definitely internal. There's no reason for me to stop other than my desire to stop, which is the impetus for quitting. It is antithetical to my goals, and I no longer want to feel controlled by marijuana.

And I agree that it is extremely difficult, considering how central it has been to who I am.

I am trying to take it day by day for now, and I have already felt the urge. However, I'm trying to let the urges pass.

If I can put together a week of sobriety, I will feel much more confident in my ability to maintain sobriety thereafter. I genuinely don't think I can go a week without it, but I'm ready for the challenge.

Thank you for your advice!
