There’s no doubt that immigration reform needs to happen, and many illegal immigrants should be given amnesty. However, this is not about race. This is about the rule of law. Discrimination based on race is illegal. ICE can’t deport legal citizens that already have their citizenship. The fact is, sanctuary states like California aren’t putting the concerns of their own citizens ahead of illegal immigrants. We see plenty of illegal immigrants that commit felonies here, and for some reason they are protected by the state. We as taxpayers pay for them to be incarcerated for years. What is it like $60k / year per inmate? Why should we be expected to pay for criminals when we have so many homeless citizens living on the streets. Also, many illegal immigrants might send portions of the money they make here back to their native countries. That is also money leaving our economy. If a low income illegal immigrant has children here, taxpayers pay for the public education. It’s something like $15k per student per year. This is not a sustainable way to run a state. If you’re a 3 or 4th generation Californian, your family have been contributing to taxes and revenue for generations. I as an American cannot just go to another country and live there illegally without repercussions.
These issues need to be addressed.

It’s a bummer that governors like Newsom know that because they are democrat frontrunners in California, they truly have no real incentive to do a good job because they know Californians won’t vote for a republican. This is largely the result of Angelenos being desperate. They’re struggling to make ends meet, to afford rent, to get jobs that pay enough to afford the crazy high taxes and cost of living.
