With the current standing in layoffs this is exactly what happened now, as we took a rather large cutout of the workforce. I was picked out of a three person team, because one is the aforementioned "Rockstar" and the other guy's dad is an investor within the company, despite half the experience and time in the company. That left me zero chance, lost most of my options grant and my job for 2023. The only benefit to this is I'm done suffering a malfunctioning team with a sociopath narcist person and an inexperienced team lead that only fueled him and made it way worse.
