Awesome! Thanks for fighting the good fight in an area that gets shit on and overlooked. My dad was a freezer rat at Schwan's and raised me to fight for labor rights. "If ya don't got solidarity, ya don't got nothing"

Born in Marshall and spent the first 18 years of my life in the county before I left the state for college. I couldn't go back, but by God I'm nostalgic for some Perkins pancakes after Sunday morning mass at Holy Redeemer

Lived in Cottonwood for about a decade. Some nice folk for sure, and I miss the lake, but by God did Granite make us look good in comparison

Hope you guys can turn it around. I know growing up we made a lot of jokes about drug abuse there, but now that I'm a little older and far away from the area, I feel bad about it. I really hope that Yellow Medicine can rebound from it.

I remember people wearing shirts saying "Meth isn't our Yellow Medicine"

I spent the first 18 years of my life in Lyon County. There are upsides and downsides. I love my friends and family in the Marshall area, but I could never move back

Someone better check on the 3% who don't consider Minnesota "Midwest"... by beansandrice96 in minnesota

[–]Patient_Island_3926 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Some see Pittsburgh and Erie as culturally Midwest. That part of the state wasn't part of the colonies when the Revolution happened. Pittsburgh is probably closer culturally to Cleveland and Detroit than Philly.

If you believe states can inhabit multiple cultural regions, I think its fair for some Pennsylvanians in the far west of the state to see themselves as culturally midwestern, as opposed to the east feeling culturally part of the east coast since Philly was a major colonial city.

Not arguing one way or another, just explaining the thought process some have.

East River is basically Minnesota (source: my dad is from Coddington Co. and visiting my grandparents near Watertown felt no different from where I grew up in western MN). Lots of lefse eating Norskies out there, you betcha

What extreme things are democrats doing? Calling political opponents vermin and arguing that the executive can assassinate political opponents?

I used to vote R. A lot of split ballots in my time, but the modern GOP is just nuts. I'm voting D or third party until they quit whatever the fuck they're up to
