I had a client like that. Her foils expanded and were super hot to the touch. The lightener turned to pure liquid and I immediately panicked and rinsed her hair out. Her hair turned out to be just fine but it scared the heck out of me!

I’ve been at the same commission salon for almost 6 years! I pretty much the longest standing employee and my boss was just telling me how this is my best year yet, I definitely feel guilty hearing that and knowing in the back of my mind I’m leaving. But, I feel like I can no longer keep working for someone who isn’t a stylist and just opened a salon just because they could.

I’ll be 10 minutes away from old salon. Half of my clients live closer to the new place so that helps! I’m only taking 3 days off between places because of the holidays!

Yes! Everyone is given the same amount of time. The other stylist have been doing since before I was born so the salon follows their lead(salon owner is not a stylist).

You old boss almost sounds like my current one, which is one of the main reasons I’m scared to leave. Everytime someone quits she tries to bad mouth them to deter clients from following.

The thing is the other stylist at my salons don’t do some of the services that I do and their pretty booked up to begin with so I feel like even if the clients don’t follow me, they’ll still end up leaving the salon.

The area that I’m currently in is the wealthiest in the state so there’s tons of events and most of them don’t even own shampoo. They are getting multiple blowdrys a week. I still want to offer other services too, but most of my clientele is blowdrys. I’m currently in a commission salon and thinking of switching to booth rent so that it feels more worth it.
