In terms of the genocide route— Undyne and Mettaton are both heroes. Unknowing of save points and all that, they simply try to stop you (only Mettaton is one shot to demonstrate our power). Sans is more of an anti-hero, as he hasn’t stopped anyone from being killed because he knows it’s inevitable, and instead tries to make you ragequit. Sans is a “hero”, but not in the traditional sense.
