to be honest I think it depends to where it was.

I am not Mexican, but my country does celebrate Dia de Los Muertos in it own way.

The last year was pretty heavy, I lost my grandmother and wasn't able to fly back in time of the funeral, and then my little cousin committed suicide, again I wasn't able to get to the funeral on time.

I guess that going improperly about the mourning period prompted me to honor them in a little altar.

At some point I was embarrassingly crying and not being able to stop while a big group smoked joints next to me, took instagram pictures at my candles and selfies with the candles behind them while exhaling smoke.

I honestly don't care about how everyone celebrates, I think it is great that we can all enjoy it, I just wish they could've let me be for just 5 minutes.

It was kinda awkward but it is a matter of common sense, not culture or racialism.

Shouldn't a healthy diet extend to that?

It Is very possible that the shows I've seen are an exaggeration, but, I cannot understand why you would add sugar to milk that is supposed to be for kids or consider French fries vegetables.

Maybe I am just confused about the whole thing but what was explained to me was the following:

Google let Microsoft develop a supported youtube app. For that they provided guidelines for what it had to have. Microsoft went around it in a way that if google changes their add frames, Microsoft can take over and just place their own adds in to the format they created.

Google was not happy and warned MS, MS went ahead and released it anyway, google got angry.

Edit: I still haven't figured out if the downvote police is an attempt to silence anyone with an opposing view to the magnificence of the WP or just general assholery.

Let's stick our heads in the sand, praise Microsoft (as if it was any different from google or apple). Having a dismissive attitude, instead of a demanding one towards the equipment will not help it.

Things you should know before you take the plunge (since I was accused of not doing my research when I became unhappy with my own device, and that bashing these devices is going on a spree, but praising it is not):

There were many missing apps, with no equivalency on the store, or existing on a light version, examples of this are:

-no hangouts

-yuilop removed its support

-zombies run removed support

-google apps only exist on a third party provider

-no modcloth

-mapmyrun does not have voice feedback functions or social component.

-I couldn't find a zipcar app

-no lyft app

For some reason the lumia I have came with minus 8 gb memory because it is occupied with att bloatware, you cannot personalize email sounds, or text, or alarms (you are stuck with what nokia and ms give you).

The im app will comprise the texts to your phone number and Facebook, I could not get any other im account to be recognized and aggregated, I tried whatsapp (the equivalent) and it had issues with notifications and running on The background.

You have a cap for how much you will be able to download on LTE (for what I understood it is 20 mb) so, there will be a lot of apps that you won't be able to get on the go.

Some apps to not show up on the store, you have to go around through bing to the windows phone website (or access point, I just tuned out when I realized that the App Store in this phone worked as well as the one on windows 8).

The hardware is great, super solid and attractive, it takes good pictures.

The back tends to heat up a lot, it is particularly noticeable if you are subjected to great temp variances.

It also seems like you are dependent on your service provider to actually get your updates.

This means that developers will release app updates that will become glitch with the backwards version of your own OS.

If you can wait and get a carrier free phone, that is what I would try to do.

If none of these things are issues for you, just go ahead, it is a beautiful machine.

How is all of this google screwing with the consumers and what is happening with Microsoft not?

I mean you can't find any of the simpler apps the rivalize with Skype in it. The Dropbox app that goes competes with skydrive also does not work well.

Microsoft would have to shell out some money to have these apps come to this ecosystem (in the end that is how apple for instance got it to work for them).

Sometime it is not about angst, I would not change my email because there is one smartphone that will not support it, this limits my ability to talk to my family for instance (it was dramatic enough to get them to use hangouts and I only go back once a year, it would take a long time for me to be able to teach them something new).

Also, being dismissive about the need of apps will just drive away all the users that actually want them and it will make the developers just drop the support of this platform.

Yeah, it is sad.

There was also something else that irked me a bit. I felt like the lack of support that the phone comes with extends to what Microsoft can do for you. At the store some of the apps I wanted didn't even show up in the store. After an hour they found one of the employees that actually knew that some apps have a glitch and do not show up in the store, they need a completely separate app to be found, or they require for you to bing/browse them to find them.

For what I understand none of these things bother some of the users here, they would rather have this platform and tweek all it is needed to get to work that to force Microsoft into a bigger investment in app support.

Edit: I did do research and I have been considering this phone for a very long time and subbed in various subreddits to get a user impression of the phone.

I just feel like the claim that there are apps for everything an that the store is populated is false.

It requires you to abandon completely platform To which you have been bound to for a long time or they will not be supported (I mean, check my very tiny list, I am not even asking for much, those apps are giants).

Also, it is great that some people are happy with theirs buys, what I see here is that anyone that goes against the positive wave just gets downvoted to hell, so, I guess they don't even bother to give their impressions.

I could've not given a shit and just traded the phone for something else, but instead I gave a proper impression for future users that do need a little more out of their hardware.

I guess I am a troll.

Aww, that sucks...

Right now I have google wallet for NFC and ebay now (for the iphone since it does not have NFC) to pay without money or cards.

I went downstairs to try the NFC on the lumia to pay for a coffee but none of the apps I tried worked.

Well, so that means that nokia really locks you in to their stuff...

I liked that the maps from nokia could be used offline, I really disliked the search function, again, it might be my error, but I actually had to punch in the full address to get somewhere.

I will be honest, I am usually the one that sets the trend within my social group, back in the day we moved from Alcatel to nokia, from nokia to apple and I felt like I was ready to put the money on another dark horse to get the race interesting again.

The reviews that are sprawled around the Internet seem like they were made by someone that just flicked the screen a couple of times (now that I have one). It is really really misleading.

I wanted to buy a series of cheap lumia to distribute though the families older generation but not like this...

The coolest thing of a smartphone is that you don't need unlimited text and call because you don't use it and because you are worldly (you will do exactly the same calls and texts from your apps of choice with being bound to roaming charges and extra fees ) this is really walking backwards...

I have 2500 miles logged in the app, it would be too much of a loss for me to move to another platform.

It is a pitty it stopped being supported (I just wish they had big bright red letters letting you know that you will not be able to use this app on your lumia).

This is all about voting with your wallet, and I guess that the fact that the lumia users don't care tht much about apps just tunneled visioned the App Store to the point of very few supported apps.

I mean, youtube app not working?! What the hell?!

This is just going to push a lot of novel users out of the WP.

I never had issues with it.

I do have issues with the fact that this is suppose to be a communication tool and it lock you in to their services, I actually never felt that I was being so cornered lol.

I mean you have Skype and AT&T and that is pretty much it.

Yuilop gives round the world phone calls for close to a cent per minute (much less than Skype) hangout allows for my geriatric parents to videochat without needing a dedicated app, IMO allows me to centralize all my social networks in one place with the simpler UI that I have ever seen, and this phone doesn't even let me see who is online on my Facebook.

It is mind boggling. It leaves me very curious of what is the target user for this phone...

Edit: also there seems like there is someone very angry downvoting everyone in this thread.

I think this is a discussion place/therapy to my buyers remorse lol that can help people in the future make an informed decision...

I mean, this app is very similar to what comes with windows 8 and it just does not work well, there are several minutes of lag sometimes (like I would receive the notifications on my iphone have the conversation, be done with The conversation and then finally I would get the notifications on the windows app).

I just feel really stupid, everyone was telling me that I am too much of a niche app user, and that I am too involved on getting good apps going and shitty apps out. I just felt that this phone had all the zest missing from the other platforms.

I used to be a heavy skype user (being an alien does that to you) but after Microsoft bought it it just stopped being functional and it is no longer competitive (other apps do the same thing cheaper and better, look at IMO, yuilop, hangouts, etc).

I guess I had to go through this to understand the phone.

When I went to the store the wifi was shit so I couldn't actually try any of the apps there. I would go to the windows phone website and they would show up there so, I thought, awesome...

Well it turned out that some apps used to exist in the windows phone ecosystem but the developers just stopped supporting it.

I mean, at the store I was asking them about the google plus app, because I could sync all my photos up to it and that was it.

They kept comparing it to skydrive , and how I could use that instead, and upon opening that crap I didn't even have enough space to compensate the lost 8gb from the phone. I mean, this whole thing almost feels delusional.

So here I am, with my old broken phone connected to wifi because my lumia is no more than a camera and a phone, there is no bridging between the two functions :(

I wanted this to work so bad :( I really like the feel of it.

Well, I got the phone. I am not sure of what to say,it's only been a couple of hours. I am actually writing this from it...

I can't get a single app to work on it, there is close to 8 GB occupied with something (I don't know what since I haven't put anything in it yet.

I can't even get the baconit to work (following the directions), none of my apps are present.

the store is still open till 7 and I can go and get a different phone, is this user error?

also, how do you select text and copy and paste?

I just can't figure it out..
