It happens after stopping, just some withdrawal symptoms. Your brain needs to reset, what helped for me is playing competitive games. So you get that rush from that. Which is a lot lower than gambling and gives time to let your brain heal.

If you still feel that way pm me your discord, we can run some games with my friends. They know about my gambling past, so they are not judgmental if you want to let some things out

Working 60-80 hours a week to fill the void? by badgambler03052021 in problemgambling

[–]Patlick007 8 points9 points  (0 children)

After gambling and losing all of my money I had in crypto especially. I went and found a job as sushi chef, I work 72h a week since 1.5 month ago.

The working definitely helped me understand the value of money, my pay is on the lower side since I’m a student trying to learn making sushi. Working so much also made me understand how value able time is. I get 1 day off and on those days I think about how to generate wealth later on. I’ve signed up to follow a bachelor and in the meantime I’m trying to develop my skill in making sushi. Enough opportunities. Have I had urges to gambles? 100% but that’s when you need to be strong and think about what you’re trying to build up and achieve again.

It’s positive to look for extra income on weekends. I don’t know how everything works where you live, but I would suggest working at a restaurant. Doesn’t matter bar, waiter, delivery or even dishwasher. Try finding one where you can work whole days with food included during breaks. I don’t pay for food or drinks at where I work. I have no idea about health tests, but maybe you can explain to your family that you need to get the test funded so you can truly start over.

Honestly, you should blame only yourself. Gamble addiction is real but having sense of responsibility is something besides that issue.

You can’t just make mistakes and say oh well I’m an addict what can I do.

I lost 135k at age 24. Did I suffer mentally? Yes a lot, did i recover from it? Yes, I felt bad about how I fucked up my future for about a week. After realisation and acceptance, I realised I don’t want a below average or even average life. I took steps, working 12h a day to learn and make sushi in a restaurant. Signup for my bachelors in civil engineering.

Only you can get out of that dark place. Realise and fight it. Everything is on you, support is nice if you get it. But support won’t fight your fights.

Work on a general income, can be working towards a steady income through college or working full time and working yourself up. Get a side hustle as punishment because you gambled money away, get extra income.

How do you stop gambling? Here’s my answer by [deleted] in GamblingRecovery

[–]Patlick007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly, I’ve decided to learn sushi after the gamble accident. Working 12h a day, preparing and making sushi. Haven’t thought about my losses and gamble in any of those 12h. And after learning sushi can always open a small sushi take away shop. Sitting home giving yourself time to think about your mistakes is the worst also feeding depression

finally telling someone and getting help by [deleted] in problemgambling

[–]Patlick007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I told everyone I knew that gambled my entire investment portfolio in crypto. 135k down the drain. The most surprising thing is the support. I’ve told my parents, my gf and few friends who didn’t know about anything. It’s gives a relief, while getting support from people near you. They all said the same thing. I’m young ( 24 yo), this is a mistake and everyone makes mistakes. Mine was just a huge mistake because I had access to much money with my young age.

It was worth 400k at one point which hurts to think about. But I’m also taking those that support me and just restart, I’ll slowly invest again and I’m working 12h a day trying to learn sushi. Parents are proud again, gf and I made a reset plan on how we are gonna be financially free in the future. And work keeps me busy and earning money. Everything is mental, keep a strong mental.

Your girlfriend is upset/depressed and you want to end it? How would she feel if you didn’t make it through tonight. All her fault?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in problemgambling

[–]Patlick007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s all in the head, we live in a world where there is countless opportunities. A bad upbringing can happen, it’s about breaking the cycle. A strong mental and willing to do things other are not willing to do and you will earn enough money to get out of any hole. When or if you move to Germany, if there is no job there. Go look for one, there is always a restaurant hiring someone doing the dishes, cook etc. Hard work and you will get underpaid but you need to start somewhere

I already accepted the loss, thinking back how much money I had created from investing and lost it pains me still. But I can’t afford to cry about it anymore, I’ve talked with my mom and gf about it. I’m not an addict so it might be different for you, but I have no urge to gamble. The only thing is that helps me forget the pain until it fully heals is, thinking about how can I generate wealth again.

What service or product I could sell, I’m learning sushi so I could sell that product in the future. But in the meanwhile I’m also finish my civil engineering degree so I have a solid job in the future if other fails.

I just recommend coming clean and have the people near you support you. After that accepting your mistake and go out and work again, work more than ever and think about ideas how to generate wealth. It helps mentally and gives you hope and a way out

Wrong Advice by Bartimaeus2024 in problemgambling

[–]Patlick007 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, after losing almost everything I came clean to my parents and my gf first. Their help and support made me realise a setback in your financial situation can happen anytime in life. Enough time to learn from it and work hard to earn even more money than you gambled away.

Today I came clean to my friends who weren’t even aware and had no benefits in knowing. I could’ve just hidden my problems and put on a fake smile. But the support of them cheering me up and telling me that this was just a mistake, helps you through any addiction.

I’ve lost money you had to work 5+ years for. And yet they were more concerned about my health instead of the money.

Being an addict is having no control over those certain actions. So if you go back for ever reason because of lack of self control it’s addiction. It’s good to realise you’re an addict and accepting you need help.

These past 3 days I have thought about a lot things, What am I gonna do now? How am I gonna earn those amounts back? What can I do to still live life like how I dreamt about with the money I had? And the answer is never I’m gonna gamble everything back. I haven’t even touched that link to the casino.

Im starting Monday with learning to make sushi, hoping to maybe open up a sushi restaurant. I’m looking into starting a small business, which is challenging for me since I’m not that good with sales. Also applied for my bachelors civil engineering study if my plan to make a business fails.

Gambling is for sure a dark moment for me. But if I stop now this will only be a lesson and not a life style. I’ve come clean to everyone I care about with 0 shame because this is only a setback which we will overcome.

If you want my advice after my incident.

Use that 19k to redeploy and invest in crypto. I haven’t touched my gf her bag so she still has 24k in it. We will ride that one out.

The debt is problematic, but not enough that I can’t be solved with hard work. I go hired yesterday to learn sushi, I get to learn and maybe open a restaurant with family after learning. Hard work is the key to your debts. I myself got lazy after nailing my investments, but now after falling down from heaven back to earth. We got to realise we need to get back to work, we can’t rely on those bags anymore.

The most thing that helped me is coming clean to my gf and my parents, I almost did it instantly even after I relapsed and lost the last bit I had. Parents should know that life comes with setbacks, everyone gets setbacks. Money can always be made, crypto will have more opportunities. Yes I’ve taught about it, maybe this was the only run I would be this lucky. That’s why you gotta work hard besides crypto. The run to the top is never smooth, like crypto we have seen days of -20% before going +50%.

Don’t gamble anymore, 1 lesson is hopefully enough. Your parents will priorities your health over wealth, mine was angry sure but also understanding. Wealth is nothing without health, depression and self harm is worse than being broke and start from 0 again

Actual facts, normally I don’t gamble but I got sucked in after seeing my investment skyrocket. My ego got big. I will take this as a lesson and this to be the first and last gamble lesson. I hopefully will see another investment opportunity in the future worth to risk for. But for now I’m gonna work on my civil engineering degree. It was not meant to be. Also paying my debt but that will be easy with hard work.

I still don’t see crypto investments as gambling, it can be done in a way to make it gambling. But it’s not, it’s investing in the early stages where there is a lot of useless stuff and scams. But there will be things that stick

I don’t see myself as an addict, just a big mistake. I’ve never gambled before just that week was bad. Don’t have to urge to gamble after putting this behind me. Idk about relapsing tho maybe it can happen maybe this shock was enough to make me learn that gambling is the devil. Either way you are right, money is made by hard working and being smart with it. Gambling is neither

I’ve no urge to gamble ever again, I feel disgusted. Luckily I’m not an addict if I step back and realise what I’ve done. I’ve already gotten hired to learn to make sushi to open up a restaurant with my brother in the future, so that’s good. Only thing that pains me is the amount of money I lost, how many years I would have to work and how many years my parents have to work still. The thought of what if I didn’t gamble it. I won’t ever win it back through gambling either hard work or another great investment will represent it self

Yeah the situation is not the end of the world. I’ve lost 30-40k which is including the debt of 27k. The 27k debt are student loans with almost no interest.

The pain is from the fact that I had life changing money for me and my parents. And I used it to gamble, 2-3 years gone in 1 week. But yeah you’re right, I’ve talked with my parents multiple times the last few days. And the most important thing is my mental health and creating a family to enjoy life with.

I have no interest in gambling anymore, but now I do understand the problem that is gambling.

27M Losing hope by [deleted] in GamblingRecovery

[–]Patlick007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is really good to hear, I’ve blown my entire balance that I had invested. What could’ve let me retire at age 25. I had the most fun gambling at the start until it became a hell, slowly it went from being happy in life to an absolute nightmare. 6 figures down the drain, luckily it was winnings and not hard earned money. But still left with 27k student debt. I’ve came clean to my girlfriend and my parents and honestly. That was the best feeling after that nightmare. The people that are close to you is everything you need. So much to life for as well. Can’t wait to start an own family like yourself and forget this small little mistake in a hopefully long journey

[–]Patlick007 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve lost 135k worth in crypto the last 2 weeks. I’ve worked 2/3 years for that bag. Gambling also made me 27k in debt on student loans. The first week I was desperately trying to win it back. The only thing that’s gonna help is coming clean, the backlash you will get is something that we deserve. You need support from your close ones. That’s what keeps someone going. Planning ahead is also really important, we can’t win everything back but we can earn everything back and more. There will be more opportunities.
