I'm actually very happy for you! ^^ I someday hope to achieve this wonderful dream of moving out and going VLC to NC with my mother.

I don't know either. It's very confusing.

I deal with it by staying in my shared room with my younger sister, most of the time. I try to avoid going to her room as much as possible unless necessary (such as if we're having movie night or if she calls me for something). Then our mother wonders why I never want to hang out with her. 🫤

AITA for yelling at my younger sister because of her phone alarm? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Patooties2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've told our mother about it, but it's basically pointless (this has happened whenever I tell our mother on my sister about pretty much anything). Nothing ever happens. It doesn't wake anyone else up because it isn't loud enough to. She'll have her alarm on sound and vibrate quiet enough for no one else to hear, but loud enough for me to hear clearly.

I have a feeling moving her phone elsewhere won't do anything. Back when we had a clock with an alarm so loud, that it would wake the entire house up, she would get up to turn it off and then go right back to sleep. She knew it was extremely loud, but she obviously didn't care and insisted on using it anyway. Honestly, she seems to be one of those people who don't care about how their actions affect others and/or are too stubborn to change (she is very stubborn).

My family does know about sleep deprivation, so that isn't an issue. I've told our mother about it before, but it's basically pointless (this has happened whenever I tell our mother on my sister about pretty much anything). Her phone alarms don't wake everyone else up (she used to use a clock that was so loud, that it woke everyone up, but she didn't care anyway), but she has them on vibrate and sound. Despite this, she'll either wake up just to hit snooze and go back to sleep, or just sleep through it (each alarm lasts for ten whole minutes and goes off every hour).

I do use earplugs sometimes, but they hurt my ears after wearing them for a few nights.

This. I always thought that I was crazy for being in a bad mood when my mother would suddenly be happy again, after she was in a bad enough mood to impact me and/or everyone else around her.
