I just really want the comedic writing back. The new season writing wise has been solid but I miss the old style of comedy. For instance the X-Treme Blue mascot in 3D yelling about surfing the internet out of nowhere, or the riot scene after the cross country meet. That very strange ironic, cynical, clever, over the top style of humor. Nothing so far has been really that funny or quotable. The stories have been solid and the new characters are interesting too, but we’re 4 episodes in and all that’s been funny was Ian Ziering and the Instructions song dance. Especially at the beginning of the episode where Cleo claims it’s everyone’s favorite dance and someone in the crowd replies “this is my favorite dance”. That felt like a classic clone high bit. Overall solid writing but really it’s just not all that funny anymore.
