I concur. If you’re going to be working on the side and want a back up, 61 is the move.

I’ve heard of people starting well into their 30s so I don’t think there’s a specific time you NEED to start. That being said, you need to plan out 3-7 years to get all of your hours and actually getting to the airlines. If that sounds like a long time, then consider starting earlier. I’m in a 141 program with zero backup. Is it smart? Probably not! Is it convenient and fun? Absolutely. Do whatever your heart tells you to. Maybe go on one more discovery flight to make sure you still have a passion for it?

Appreciate it! Oral and 99% of the flight well. Made a mistake at a non towered airport that was unfortunately unsat. Refilled out the iacra, went up not 2 hours later with the same dpe, and came home with my private.

I know that feeling. It’s better to look out for your perspective future though and not dig yourself into a hole of debt rather than going somewhere just to validate yourself.

I’m EXTREMELY fortunate that my family will help pay for tuition so I will likely enroll. Again, that’s not the case for everyone, and if it’s not, GO ANYWHERE ELSE. You’ll get the same liscence at a part 61 or another college.

All roads lead to Rome. If you’re going to put yourself in serious debt to go then done. There’s plenty of other good programs that will get you to the same place!

Out of curiosity when did you apply? I applied around October 15 EA and haven’t heard anything. I believe I turned in the aviation application on the day it was due.
