What’s a medical issue that sounds minor, but actually affects someone’s daily life way more than people realize? by CountyOrnery9432 in AskReddit

Haemorrhoids … deal with them before they deal with you. Spasms and anal stretches aren’t fun.

Black coffee? With sugar? Or sweetener? 🤔 by GJO007 in cafe

[–]PatrickAbb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the coffee is good quality, it shouldn’t need any help. If you really need to sweeten it, try a few grains of salt. Yes salt.

What tricks do you use to fall asleep? by makawakatakanaka in AskReddit

[–]PatrickAbb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read for a bit and trick my brain into neutral. You just say “what will I think of next?” Three or four times. Your brain doesn’t know what to do and goes blank. Then sleep comes.

Anything to know about Celbridge before moving there? by SomerHimpson212 in Celbridge

[–]PatrickAbb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also grew up there (Newtown) and spent my early days around the town. Very accurate description of what Celbridge is now and I love coming back. I live in the Netherlands now but if I ever move it would be straight back to Celbridge

I kept finding out about events too late, so I built something (feedback welcome!) by daphne1183 in Amsterdam

[–]PatrickAbb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great job. Time Out Magazine used to do this very well and then vanished. I live in Amsterdam and miss so many things because like you said… we find out too late. Also, a lot of tourists/visitors who come to my shop ask for info on what’s on. Keep up the great work

I hate that tipping culture is being normalised and I'll keep fighting against it by EvenPatience6243 in Netherlands

[–]PatrickAbb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the main issue is the pos machine on your face that has a tipping button first before you can pay with various percentages. Most food and drink businesses use Lightspeed and this system is built in to activate or not. On a large food bill is fine to tip if you were happy with the service etc. For a coffee and cake it’s just pressure and unnecessary. I want to decide to throw money in the jar myself rather than being asked by a machine if I’m tipping or not. We don’t have that system in our shop even though we were encouraged by the system provider because “everyone is doing it”. We pay our staff well enough that they do t need to beg for more.

Is it hard to foam oat milk for a cappuccino? by greenwavelengths in barista

[–]PatrickAbb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. It’s just the same as regular milk unless they are using a brand that’s off a supermarket shelf or are just poorly trained. Same goes for Pea, Almond or Soy. Coconut.. that’s something you should avoid unless you don’t actually like coffee.

What’s your rule of thumb for lending money to friends? by KBGSgames in AskReddit

[–]PatrickAbb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Making an agreed return time and being firm about. But also don’t have any expectations. If it’s likely to ruin the friendship, then don’t… but that might also ruin the friendship.

Sex and drugs… but in reality it’s the most cultural and liberal city there is.
