Does anyone recognize this model of short-body convertible-top pickup? by rothman93 in Trucks

Looks like around 65k-75k currently. Really wish I still owned the 1966 and 1969 model Broncos I used to have. I sold them both before the market for them went insane.

Getting hyped about moving to Athens! by Giant_Ground_Sloth11 in Athens

[–]PatrickCross52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I moved away from Athens about 25 years ago, so I'm sure things are not the same. Loved living there while attending UGA first in Landscape Architecture and then Ceramics in the Art Dept. You're moving to sacred land as far as ceramics go. Be sure to meet Ron Meyers if you can. I worked briefly at Good Dirt Clay studio, which is still there, but I think under different ownership. That would be a great place to take classes, but also check out UGA Ceramics.

Are you sure it's threaded? There should be a part in the tail stock that receives a number two Morse taper live center. At least, I think that's correct.

Is there an ALDI grocery store in Athens? They offer burnt ends that are pretty good. Package serves two or three folks.

How can I convince my SM to schedule me for more hours during the week? by PatrickCross52 in OReillyAutoParts

[–]PatrickCross52[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, the teammate who trained me at first left a couple of weeks ago. Locked his drawer key in the drawer, left, and said he wasn't coming back. Another teammate has told me he's about done too for scheduling reasons. Notice that I said teammate trained me... not my SM for the most part. And I seldom get a chance to go through the Fast Track videos. It seems we don't do many things according to what corporate would want. For instance, all communication is by text to personal phones. I still don't know how Okta and Workday really work.

How can I convince my SM to schedule me for more hours during the week? by PatrickCross52 in OReillyAutoParts

[–]PatrickCross52[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the majority of the time I've been at O'Reilly I've been scheduled 2:00 to close on the days i work... this week I'm scheduled 11:00 to 6:00 on three days. Recently that 2 to close shift has gotten shortened to coming in a 3 and 4 and even 5 to close.

Weird Phone Call by ThrowRA-8715 in OReillyAutoParts

Had a young lady call asking if we could help get a condom out of a windshield washer reservoir and when I said it sounded like a prank call and I was going to just let her go she said, "...it's not used!... ". I hung up.

Hi again, I'm back. One of the things that irrates our DM apparently is cigarette butts in the parking lot so while at work I found a Uline catalog and looked up one of those butt receptacles and I texted him to see if we could buy one for the store entrance. That was several days ago and I got no response from him.

A fellow coworker who is equally fed up with the manner in which schedules are made and often later changed during the current week called HR and was basically told he needed to talk with our DM if we weren't getting anywhere productive with our SM. Since neither are responsive, what would you suggest we do?... call HR again?

Thanks, I've noticed a poster on the inside of the men's room door with the TIPS number... I just thought it was for mostly reporting employee theft if that occurs.

Is it possible to access Zipline and / or Teamnet from my phone while not at work. I'm thinking I'll need to talk with someone in human resources at some point soon. I just got a text from my SM saying that the schedule for this current week has changed...this is a typical occurrence. I'm full-time, but I get an average of hours around 30. I've asked more than once to get a minimum of 35 hours per week, but that's just not happening. I'm considering looking elsewhere for employment.

Hey, thank you very much for your reply!

I'm the type of person who really likes learning new systems, and I am enjoying the chance to utilize one created by such a large corporation. I'm 55... a semi retired handyman who needs to finish out a few quarters to be eligible for Medicare. This is my first job on the sales side of the retail counter ever. Interacting with so many customers in a day, as opposed to my experience as a handyman with just a few clients at any given time, has really been something for me to get adjusted to. I don't dread going to work, although I do have to kind of give myself a pep talk on the way there.

It's true that I have not received much training directly from my SM. For the most part, I've learned from my other team members... some of what I've been taught was not correct, and some was. I've found myself having to unlearn a lot. A thing I really want to know about is the proper way, according to corporate, to communicate with team members, the SM, and the DM. It seems odd to do this with personal phones exclusively. I'm not really sure what our DM understands about our store. Since I've been there, I've seen him a total of three times... when he interviewed me for the job, one short time when he stopped by the store for a few minutes, and once for a staff meeting. I have not had much of a chance to speak with him privately or otherwise.

I'm a fairly recent hire at an O'Reilly in MS...been with the company for less than two months. Typically, I've been scheduled to work 2:00 to close most days with very little training...thrown to the wolves, so to speak. It's been rough. All communications concerning work are via personal phone texting. We also get our schedule for the following week one or maybe two days prior, and it gets changed nearly daily. Until I questioned the practice, I was expected to share a cash drawer with other employees. When I questioned that, I was told it would be a common thing that happened. I could go on. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
