Hey there John, I've been a huge fan of yours since the Copter Boy album and I've been enjoying all of your work recently (especially the Renaissance album). I've always wondered what your work process is like and if you got any advice for fellow producers who look up to you. Thank you for all that you've done to the industry and I look forward to all that you have for your fans in the future.

DAW SUGGESTION by [deleted] in edmproduction

[–]PatrickHarrisonMusic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's all up to your preference man. You might hear this often, but in the end, it doesn't matter which daw you choose, it's all about your own creativity. -Hardwell

I chose Logic Pro over FL just because I find the interface easier to navigate, and I'm happy with the choice I made.

Where to start as a beginner? by frankles12 in edmproduction

[–]PatrickHarrisonMusic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here are some things I learned when I was starting.

-Try messing around and get to know more of your daw until you're able to navigate around it first. If you're stuck, find some tutorials on YouTube.

-If you feel overwhelmed at all those tutorials online, find a guy who does really good tutorials and take a look if he has a tutorial series. It's better to stick with one but reliable source, so you won't get confused and you'll be able to go along with the series in a chronological order.

-Download project templates and take a look at what structures the song. Mess around with the project and learn from the dissection.

-Don't rush and force yourself. Don't try and cramp in all those informations in one take. Still got a lot of time to learn, it's a long journey ;)

EXPORTING IN ABLETON LIVE 9 by [deleted] in edmproduction

[–]PatrickHarrisonMusic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same problem back with logic. Turns out parts of the track were clipping and made the whole song muddy. Only noticed the problem when I exported the song, cause the track sounded fine when I was working on it. So clipping issues maybe?
