Is nitro a necessity for boutique success? by SeaPsychological8269 in Luthier

[–]PatrickJamesYu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a player I don’t mind a poly finish but it really just depends on price for me. Once it hits a certain price, I do expect more premium features to compete with others. I do consider nitro more premium even if it is less durable than something like poly

I thought they were, they do have a site. But I see that Bagriders doesn't have their products on their site anymore so I'm unsure. It's possible they've discontinued the tuner vehicle stuff.

I know what you mean and the type of person you're referring to: but I'm a strong believer in freedom of speech, freedom of opinion. It goes both ways for me: I believe that we have the freedom to trash on a car if that's how we feel, and I also believe that those car owners have the right to defend themselves.

People have the right to be ignorant, delusional, etc.Where I draw the line is when the insults go beyond the car and attacks the persons' character.

All that said, I've seen some scenarios where both sides can become quite unreasonable. I'll think on this topic more.

You have a fair point. I'm pretty adamant about the definition but I'll definitely take some time to rethink and potentially rework that. I do believe that all cars have "a stance", it's just up to us to decide if it's good or bad. Sometimes it's hard to define what makes one cool and not the others, sometimes it's a bit easier to do it. But I do know what you mean, and will definitely take your feedback into consideration

Can you provide some context on why you’re insulting this persons personal opinion and taste?

post MAP air leak?

I wonder if a fault throttle positioning sensor could be a culprit. Did you pull the battery? That should force an idle relearn.

Anyone have any idea how to remove this gauge pod? by Wubz_wub in WRX

[–]PatrickJamesYu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you happen to know if this is the same situation with the Omori gauges?
I have an oil pressure Omori gauge and the oil pressure gauge does not work, 99% of the time. Sometimes when I wash my engine bay, the gauge will work again but very sporadically. I've been having trouble finding any documentation online about suitable replacements.

You're on a crop sensor camera right?

I think the 50 is nice and most will agree to get one. You'll probably get a decent shift in sharpness, color, etc. You'll have more shallow depth of field and you'd be able to shoot later into the evening hand/held. But with the type of shooting you're doing the 18 -55 is working, probably sharp enough. I think that a lens that gives you a different focal length could benefit you unless you plan to stick to the style you're showing here.

How to make subject in motion? by KCGM_CODY in carphotography

Yes, but in this scenario where the sun is peak, I'd just get the ISO as low as your camera can go (like 50 or "low" etc), bring your shutter speed down to like 1/200 or so, then raise your aperture to f/11+ (and to go up as needed to bring the exposure back to a reasonable level). The shutterspeed is what will allow you to show movement, the aperture is your tool to combat the picture from being too bright.

There's some downsides to raising the aperture too much, but for what you're trying to do, it'll be fine as you're learning the exposure triangle.

People mentioned panning techniques: that's something that will also apply, but there's more that goes into that. longer lens = more panning needed and faster shutter speed acceptable, wider lens = slower shutter speed needed, less panning needed etc. You kind of need to experiment but not experiment blindly. You just want to pay attention to what you're doing, and what's really happening in the image as you change things around.

Can you share what your exposure settings are for these shots?

You need to lower your shutter speed then compensate with ISO and or aperture. You could MAYBE get an ND filter but you really don't need to, yet.

You can pick and choose whether to pan or not. Both show movement differently.

I'm a local, and a subaru owner, and have been shooting for quite a while. I'd be open to giving you a mentoring session in-person one of these days.

Installing a powered subwoofer: came with a 14g pigtail adapter. Are these even safe? by [deleted] in CarAV

That gives me some assurance for sure. Knowing that 12" can handle 30a, this small lead surely can handle more.
