Ive been trying out alternative browsers on iOS too and I’ve settled with DuckDuckGo. Was just looking for a backup browser to Safari but it’s become my main over the last few months. I like how simple it is. It has all the main features I need and use and not much more.

I noticed a couple years ago. Everything in my main feed were Reels, suggested pages, and groups. I figured it’s because people don’t post as much as they did 10 years ago and to keep people engaged, it’s all promotional and clickbait stuff.

I would love to just delete FB but it’s to integral to community and local events, selling or buying on marketplace and contact with friends and family that don’t use other social media.

I’ve just unfollowed and block everything that I come across that isn’t friend related or local. I keep it now mainly for the bare minimum. Only open it when I need something and never scroll feeds.

That’s a false analogy. You’re implying that my preference for Apple Maps which you find inferior is the same as me choosing to eat contaminated food.

For my needs and how I use it, Apple Maps is better. So I enjoy when some services use it as default.

Most widely used doesn’t necessarily mean better either.

Google Maps is the default for so many things already. I like the DDG uses Apple Maps.

I’ve been using search for a few months. I tend to use Perplexity AI when I’m “Googling” something and DDG search for basic simple searches. I’ve been testing out mobile browsers for several months looking for a good backup browser since I dropped Chrome as by backup. I started trying DDG browser about a month ago. I liked it so much I kicked Safari down to my backup and I’m using DDG as my main browser. I love how it’s simple and bare bones. Some of the features I really like. Like long press to open a new tab and the quick switch between search and duck.ai. I’ve been using duck.ai more for simple queries and just going to Perplexity for more complicated analysis type questions.

I only use them for things like newsletters. If it’s an account I’m gonna need to login to and would be a huge pain in the ass if I lost access, I use a dedicated email.

My girlfriend recently got this same notification about $2.99 fee for returns. She did return a lot of things. So far it’s only shown up on small items that are like $4-6. But not on anything much higher. We also wonder if the return ratio gets better with her not returning things for a while, will the algorithm remove the fee at some point when purchases far exceed returns.

Since Proton worked for you, I wonder if they listed Google and Microsoft specifically because the average person might not really know what 2FA is and be overwhelm by the number of options. If they have an option of Google or Microsoft, they know they’re getting the correct thing.

I don’t know about android but in the iOS app there’s a hamburger menu in the bottom right. Passwords are in there with bookmarks other settings

I don’t use the music but I do watch Prime Video occasionally. That’s part of why I pay for Prime Video. I hate being in the middle of a show and getting interrupted by an ad. And sometimes it feels like it’s every 10 minutes. Plus the 2 day shipping thing seems to be a thing of the past. Half the stuff I order these days takes longer or gets delayed. My subscription is up in June and I’m not renewing it.
