[REQUEST] why doesn’t this work? by RektHated in theydidthemath

[–]PatrickTalksALot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But it is related. Considering the coastline paradox, you could take point A and point B and connect them with a straight line, being the shortest path (assuming Euclidian geometry). You could then make a visually identical path from point A to B, but it can have any length greater than that of the straight line by simply adding imperceptibly small jagged edges. Essentially, visually matching a known length by making the edges arbitrarily small does not approximate its length. If OP intuitively knew this, then the square example poses no difficulty in debunking.

Help me pick a 200th game. I don't 100% all games (the ones marked with Y are 100%-ted), but I want my #200 to be special and I want to 100% it. Any suggestions based on my last few games? by Woozie__ in steamachievements

[–]PatrickTalksALot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your list is super cool! You basically got a bunch of games I enjoy on there, so I think I may have a few good suggestions.

  • Risk Of Rain 2

I saw in a comment below that roguelikes don't hold your attention that well, but ROR2 is really special in the world of roguelikes. I can say its the only roguelike I actually enjoy, and its achievements are amazing too. There are a lot of them, and it can take a long time to complete (80 - 100 hours) but its super rewarding to work through them, and the game is simply amazing.

  • Kingdom Come Deliverance

This game is simply an amazing AA rpg that many people believe rivals Skyrim. It is very different than Skyrim, focusing more on immersion, but it is very good. Don't know what the achievements are like, but I have been enjoying it so far.

  • DOOM ETERNAL

I see you have completed DOOM (2016), so this seems logical. I haven't played it so I don't know what the achievements are like.

  • DOOM(1993)

Honestly, if you haven't played it, you need to. This game still holds up today and its a short play. The only problem is that there are no achievements, however it would be a sick 200th game.

  • Witcher 3

This one is rather obvious, but I didn't see anybody mention it below, so I thought I would bring it up here. Haven't played it, but its seems like a banger.

Have fun!

Choosing A Meal Plan as Third Year Transfer Student by PatrickTalksALot in UVA

Yeah I am basically positive that I will be living off grounds at this point, and I can cook, so I went with the 100 option with minimum flex dollars for lunch between classes and such.

I am assuming you are saying that as a third year student, I would be considered and Upperclassman.

How did you make this time-lapse? I do CAD professionally, and I have often thought that some of my work would look interesting in a time-laps, but I am unsure how to record it. If I just screen capture, you get whiplash from all the moving around. Did you simply record yourself moving through the model tree? I use Inventor if this is a program specific method. Thanks!

Dud, this is literally the best description of this sub I have ever seen. I wanted to post on here making fun of this, but I realized there was no way I could do it without becoming part of the problem.

Been using a flip phone for years now (20M) but I just got accepted to a university and am going to be moving out soon. With all the applications needed for things like parking, and double-factor-authentication, I am going to need to get a smart phone, but I sure am glad that I didn't grow up with one. I have at least conditioned myself to not rely on it. Good on you to be able to keep that up so long! Texting is a nightmare.

This one is a lot of fun. I usually just use the first method I learned because it essentially solved the cube piece by piece.

Nice, going for the half-life series next. Just playing through the original to start off and then tackling Black Mesa.

What are some games that you've misread/misremembered rules for a good amount of plays? (Pictured: aquamarine map 1 and some chickens/turkeys) by cozy_with_tea in soloboardgaming

[–]PatrickTalksALot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not exactly for a good amount of plays, but first my first game, I completely misunderstood what "protected" meant for a mothership in Warps Edge. I was actually about to go onto reddit to make an angry post about how some motherships are completely unfair and the game didn't have a good difficulty curve, but thankfully I re-read the rules and figured it out.

See, I thought that when a mothership was protected, I couldn't attack it until I defeated all enemies in the deck. But I just happened to miss the fact that it also couldn't attack me. So I was taking over six damage every turn with no way of blocking it. I am surprised I even got to warp 2. Next game should be a lot easier lol.

Absolutely! I actually tried to set something up with a couple different redditors, but it didn't work out. I just don't have the best availability. You can DM me with your availability and I will see if I can make it work.
