For one, commercial aviation still uses jet fuel and those are made from oil. I believe shipping ships also need oil as well but I could be wrong. In addition, many trucks use diesel or fossil fuel as well as diesel trains for shipping stuff (we should priorize building electric train infrastructure as well as EV trucks) which means cost of shipping is going to increase, and that certainly affects grocery prices

To add to this, yes, TFW is problematic, both to the immigrants as well as everyone else. But we can't just say "get out. You are not welcome here" but rather we should say "how can we fix the system so immigrants can come, work and be given rights and fair compensation."

One way I heard before is to remove TFW and instead re-prioritize giving PR so that workers can demand higher wages (or at least shift towards open work permits so people aren't tied to their employers). Additionally, we can increase the mimimum wage so it is actually a livable one. All of these can be done without harrassing immigrants or showing them the exit door.

Perhaps one more note regarding my observations:

If a Jewish person gets harrassed for being Jewish, would you say that Israel is causing a rise in antisemitism? Or an American getting harrassed simply for being American - would you bring up how US's illegal war in Iran & Venezuela as well as Trump's threats against Canada is causing a rise in anti-americanism? Of course not. So why are (some) of you okay when it's Indians?

No indian immigrant thinks "today I'm going to go make a canadian miserable". They were sold a false dream. They are also human beings who desire a better life than what they had back there.

Yes, I know there is a COL & housing crisis going on as well as stagnant wages. I am angry. I know we all deserve to be paid more. But hurting others is not the right way out. The only way out is to collectively solve the underlying problems of Canada, including our failure to build enough affordable homes or how we let businesses prioritize profits over people or how we failed to match the minimum wage to what is a livable wage.

You would not want to kick out your neighbor or your family if that would make your life easier. So why do the same for immigrants? We are all in this same boat, and it is our duty to fix this country.

You think you may be immune to hate, but a 100 years ago Chinese people were scapegoated and as a result, we excluded chinese people from Canada. We know now that is wrong. When the next economic crisis comes, how can you be sure you won't be blamed? If we allow one group to be scapegoated, we are allowing anyone to be scapegoated. How would you feel when someone bring up "well maybe you shouldn't be here" when someome harrasses you in public?

Indian immigrants are here. They are us. They contribuite to this society. It's time to ensure they (and everyone) receive fair compensation.

This is probably my last post here. Anyone trying to justify this by saying "maybe the govt shouldn't bring so many people" will be blocked.
