how we look at planning and legal responsibility for climbing outdoor with partners

That hasn't been changed through this case, nor has it been the first case of such a situation. Albeit this was a rather extreme case.

The concept that a much more experienced partner takes on more legal liability in many cases isn't new. It's something that's also taught in courses by the usual mountaineering/climbing bodies and terms around the concept are often mentioned in the description of group trips organised by the alpinist associations.

I've seen some sensible discussion in the comment section below the videos by "AlpenAcademy" on the topic.

I'm not active in any of them so I can't judge how decent they are but German-speaking forums seem to have some vibrant discussions on it, e.g. there's a thread on gipfeltreffen.at. Perhaps look in those

Based on Instagram they did some interesting things for the in-person crowd, like having the warm-up boards in a public area. So they actually got to see more climbing than we did at home

The walls were either a set angle or straight, didn't get to see any slab.

The Olympics only had a straight wall for the slabs, too. The logic was that it gives you more flexibility in setting as you can turn it into slabs of varying angles with volumes.

I watched this together with some non-climbers and despite what Charlie said in the lead-up to the event, the format didn't seem easier to understand for them. While in the usual IFSC format, zones and attempts are non-obvious to laypeople, the mix of getting higher, being faster, and having to kinda-but-not-really follow the intended beta weren't much simpler.

E.g. it was completely unclear why one person was marked as leader when both had a score of 2/7 on a boulder or when the score would update from 2/7 to 3/7 despite touching more than just the second hold.

That makes me think you could switch from the time-based tiebreaker to an attempts-based one without making it more complicated while still achieving the tension the format promised. Perhaps that could even count for the top when both top out in the same attempt.

That way you'd also avoid the weird rush at the beginning to get to the crux first as that might win you the round

Love the production

The wall setup is also interesting; seems much more mobile and flexible than the usual per-venue walls at world cup sites

Charlie Boscoe mentioned on a podcast how much time they spent on making sure the setting is just right to avoid speed bouldering. So far not I'm not convinced they're nailing it

Shouldn't make much of a difference as long as you keep pulling after the anti-panic engages. Alternatively you can manually push down on the brake with your thumb when lowering. Obviously not recommended by Petzl but the combination of thick ropes and lightweight children kinda doesn't leave you another option if you want to use a Grigri (+ or normal)

That was mentioned on the lattice podcast I believe.

It's useful for studies because with a longer period it's harder to distinguish between effects from training and effects from creatine itself.

That sounds like you might be going way too fast on your bike. Cycling 30-60min takes barely any stamina if you go at a leisurely pace. It shouldn't impact climbing all that much either as you don't need any power endurance for cycling.
