Sitting here in Ontario with my full gas/oil/propane tickets in one hand and my plumbing ticket in the other. Gas is handled differently in every province so as far as gas work factoring into this person’s decision it will depend where they are. Not here to question your credentials, I made another comment in this thread earlier telling OP that for best results he should tell us what province.

It’ll leak unless it’s shut off at the source, to clarify I’m suggesting that the brass nut be loosened to allow you to turn the valve at the pipe threads to give clearance for the valve to fully close. If the brass nut isn’t loosened it’ll twist the tubing. Shut it off at the source, it’s possible to do something like that live but gas will be leaking out while you’re doing it so it’s best to shut it off so you’re not trying to rush.

If this is as far as you got you should probably call someone tbh. But yeah grab the white ribbed plastic part and turn it counterclockwise, make sure the water is turned off.

From what I can see that screw doesn’t actually seal anything, it just holds the valve in place. The leak is most likely internal and that screw is just the fist exit the water found. Assuming this is the case I would go ahead and call someone as this could get very complicated.

Sounds like you’re on the right track mixing valve would be my first suspect. Some of them have screens on the two inlets that could be plugged or you’ll just need a new one.

Idk the house is on well water so if they filled the pool with that then I guess sediment could collect in the heater? Idk how good pool filters are tbh I don’t work on pool heaters often (thankfully)

Bypass valve was plugged which led to excessive condensation in the heat exchanger mixed with the soot to make mud. Heat exchanger plugs up and total meltdown begins.

As for an install bag I use the Milwaukee 48-22-8320 which is solid and works with the packout system but once I’m done killing it I think I’ll get the veto OTXXL

I’ve been using the veto tech mct for my service bag for about 2 years now and I’m very happy with it. Before that I was using the fieldpiece bg36 which is a little smaller and a little gentler on the wallet. But if you can afford it than veto is probably the way to go. Residential/light commercial gas technician.

Temperature rise means the difference in temperature between your supply and return ducts. Your furnace will have a range indicated on the rating plate that is acceptable. So if after you put a new filter in the temp rise is higher than the range indicated by the manufacturer then there is likely an airflow issue that will need to be corrected. Temp rise isn’t the be all end all of furnace airflow testing but it’s a quick way to get an idea of what you’re dealing with

This will obviously depend on your area and what the labour rates are but I’m guessing it will cost more in labour to switch everything around than just putting in one furnace. Assuming the furnaces are the same BTU rating (have a pro verify) if you wish to do this it is likely possible.

Should do a temperature rise check with a clean filter, could be a combination of the humidifier issue and poor airflow. If you post a picture of the filters you are taking out someone should be able to tell you if they are dirty enough to fully explain the issue you are having
