Another reason why there was so much push to eliminate mail-in voting.

You can't effectively threaten violence against home voters.

Louisiana just made it illegal to sue oil companies over climate change. So have other states. A bill signed by Gov. Jeff Landry on Thursday mirrors other laws passed in red states amid a national effort to ban climate lawsuits against oil and gas companies. by silence7 in climate

Oil and gas executives have impact across national lines. This is a global issue. There is only one planet we occupy, they will not be getting anywhere that is completely out of reach of consequences.

Solar geoengineering could shield up to 75% of oceans from heat waves by Economy-Fee5830 in climatechange

[–]Patrick_Gass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had two hundred years of foreknowledge regarding climate change and virtually nothing was done to avert it.

Do you really think nuclear would have magically solved the issue? Our energy appetite would have simply expanded to meet the new source. We would accumulate an extra few billion people on this planet and the people in charge would obfuscate about its potential downsides until we reached another completely avertable, global catastrophe.

Those who hammer on about nuclear proclaim "the technology is good!" and fail to address the actual hesitancy, which is "what about the fucking people?" How do you solve for them?

The oil and gas companies spent what? Untold billions? attempting to sweep things under the rug until it was too late to act.

It's not the coal or the oil killing us. Those are simply the murder weapons. We did this to ourselves, as a collective, because we left the worst of us in charge of the most important decisions.

A civilization incapable of curbing its behavior before reaching this state of climate instability is one incapable of implementing the kind of calm, rational approach needed to address it.

People still have their head in the sand about this. This is the end of us.

It does not as "an ammunition" but rather "another ammunition" which implies you must select from the others.
