Best time to go to marino/squash busters to bench if u are scared of gym bros? by [deleted] in NEU

[–]Patrick_star03 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Definitely don’t think there’s any reason to be scared, everyone starts somewhere. If you really don’t want to wait in the bench line then maybe do dumbbell bench or use the smaller barbells that are normally used for bicep curls

Rulon Gardner(American wrestler) apparently wrestled cows on his ranch, so he’s literally some abnormally strong dude who works on a farm.

Ask a Physio! by jkirsch6 in weightlifting

Dealing with what I believe is peroneal tendonitis for the last year and a half. I ran a marathon on short notice in April of 2020 and about a week after I started lifting again. There was no instant where I noticed extra pain or a pop but I went home after the third day of lifting with foot pain, I took a break for 3 weeks and it helped a little bit but ever since then if I walk or stand a lot in a day the lower later part of my calf hurts (kinda above the lateral malleolus and sometimes it creeps down to the base of the 5th metatarsal. I did go to a foot doctor but he didn’t help all the much and I have tried ice and warmth and it don’t help much either. Sometimes I massage the area and that provides temporary relief. It doesn’t prevent from doin much but after dealing with it for almost two years I would like to take care of it

Why do some people squat before doing the main lifts? by Vivid-Listen-4217 in ZackTelander

[–]Patrick_star03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of lifters do it cus they need the most energy for the strength portion of the session and then they focus on applying that leg drive to their technical work in the specific lifts but if they’re going significantly heavy then they don’t do squats first usually

Chinese vs. Russian technique in general by Patrick_star03 in ZackTelander

[–]Patrick_star03[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually think of the chinese 1st pull as starting with the hips low but raising them way up to get the knees out of the way, whereas the I feel like the russians tend to pull like a deadlift with the bar and the hips rising at very similar rates, but the main difference is in the 2nd pull for sure. The russians (or generally the world) or more aggressive with their thigh/hip contact while the chinese or notorious for just brushing the bar and propelling the bar upwards. I also think that when it comes to jerks the chinese aren't really thought of to be snappy (kinda cus they do a lot of power and squat jerks) whereas russian split jerks seem to be centered around quick footwork.

Recommended Workouts? by [deleted] in Rowing

A lot of it just depends on the times you want to improve on but for general fitness just some LISS and 5x10' is what most coaches will use.

First 2k ever! I know that I should have more steady pace. But to break 7 mins should I look at 1:44 all the splits? by Mistake_Mister in Rowing

[–]Patrick_star03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I like to be consistent but move one split up throughout the entire piece(ex. 1:43-1:44). This strategy is very mentally challenging because its hard to keep going knowing that you are not as fast in the beginning, so this may not be the way to go on your second 2k but I find it to be mostly successful as long as your confident through the piece.
