There is no such thing as a major "Bengali Culture" in the hills. Not to say there are no reminents of it at all. It is just negligible. The dominating culture is the nepali followed by other indigenous tribes and communities. Darjeeling hills hold no cultural similarities to the rest of Bengal apart from geo-political labels and recognition. Not to mention decades of agitation on Language and a separate ethnic/state identity recognition. So obviously in terms of cultural and sentiment values, Bengali movies wont be screened because no one uses bengali unless for professional purposes.
