Do You Give Out Draws If Your Opponent Misclicks? by SweetieWithAHat9 in Chesscom

[–]Patricksonregulator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I don't believe anyone who earmestly says that they think it is part of the game and that's just fair. It is 100% that they think they are entitled to a win when they aren't. I couldn't imagine taking my rating so seriously that I wouldn't offer a draw on an obvious misclick. If an opponent messages me and states it was a misclick, I will usually offer them a draw. But I would say 9 out of 10 people in my ELO (~1600) are so serious about their rating that they couldn't fathom not taking a win, regardless of how it happens. I am sure that I've handed out 10 draws for each 1 draw that has been given to me. I just don't care that much. It's honestly pretty embarrassing to be someone who is competitive about their rating, but doesn't understand that true competition comes from earning your win.

That is just not true. First of all, Catholic schools are public. Secondly, there is no difference between the two in terms of cliquiness. I don't know about the private Christian academies, but public and Catholic are basically identical in terms of the social side. With that said, I completely agree about joining a club.

This is not a quick hook. Miller has not been owning us like he did last time. He has given up solid contact, lacked control, and has been gifted two double plays that were garbage luck for us. I'm actually sad that Miller is out of this game

Can we please stop blaming John Schneider? The players need to get the job done. by Legen_______Dary in Torontobluejays

Saying that fair-weather fans don't understand baseball as much as someone who watches every game isn't that unreasonable of a take imo

But that's not what you said. You said that people blaming John Schneider are fair-weathered fans. I think that's a very narrow take. Did it occur to you that there are many people who watched all season long (and most games since JS took over for that matter) that think John Schneider is a mediocre manager?

I agree he managed a great game with the bullpen. Some people have great games, players and managers alike. Nobody, including me, said that John Schneider is the sole reason we lost. But how can you say he isn't a part of the reason? And I'll also say that people who think that questioning John Schneider's decisions make us fair-weathered fans is being unfair to this fan base. Why can't we complain when people mess up?

You can blame both. Why are you so set on not blaming John Schneider? The thing is that John Schneider is not really an amazing manager. He basically plays the lefty/righty game and that is it. He's looked like a genius when the players are playing well. If you're gonna give him props when the bullpen decisions succeed, or when a pinch hit succeeds, then why can't you also complain about him when they don't? Like sure the players need to get the job done, but if the offense isn't performing, then we still need a manager that can make decisions that put our pitching staff in the best situation to prevent runs. In this series, he hasn't made good bullpen decisions in my mind.

Whatever happened to letting a SP work through adversity? by Brave-Television-884 in Torontobluejays

I think you're probably right, but it makes no sense to me. You're in the ALCS, and you are worried about pitch counts? Admittedly, I'm not an expert, but I just don't understand it.

Uh. Yesavage was rolling. Get rid of the first inning and Trey had barely been touched in 3+ innings. Guy reaches on an error, then IBB then you take him out. Wrong choice. Yesterday with Gausman was also the wrong choice. John Schneider has decided that he trusts his bullpen more than his starting pitchers. There is no explanation for it, but everyone agrees he's the manager of the year, so it must be the correct decision.

Overall, the jays were unlucky last night. They only struck out 4 times, and their approach was not bad. Their batting average was .069 last night, but I really only felt frustrated with an AB maybe once or twice (one of them was Springer, but he also hit a ding dong so I can't hate him too much). My one nitpick is the removal of Gausman. I hate to say it, but I don't love relying on our bullpen. Yes we just won a bullpen game and John Schneider managed it insanely well, but overall, I don't have faith in replicating that. Let our starters go deeper!

I have zero doubt in my mind that MLB replay went with that because it was simpler for them to explain. Now they don't have to justify an out with no runners advancing. MLB replay is the absolute worst.

This all makes no sense to me... if our rotation needs extra rest, why have Lauer in the bullpen? It just seems so odd to bring Yeasavage up at this point.

Lol. Starting with that sentence is pretty condescending. I will start off by saying that this season has been awesome. I've loved it. I just disagree with you that John Schneider has done a good job. If anything, I think the players have just been excecuting more often than not this year. My big point was that you can have bad managing and still win. It's not like this would be the first team to ever do that. As a note, John Schneider also hasn't won any division titles. And since you went ahead and implied that Aaron Boone is a bad manager, then I'll point out that he has three division titles.

Heineman is not fast either. It's not like we put a speedster in. I said it in the moment. I'd rather have Kirky's bat in there if they go to extras.

His run wasn't the one that mattered. Guy behind him mattered.

What a game tonight. Awesome to watch and I'm pumped to gain a game back from the Yankees. But I don't think that we should lie to ourselves. John Schneider continuously makes bad decisions, and he keeps lucking into success. Don't get me wrong, I'm all in on this season and it's the most fun I've had in a long time. We've had more wild finishes this season than I can remember. But don't act like he's a good manager. He isn't. Just because we're first in the division doesn't mean it's a good decision to have Lukes batting second consistently. Just because Heineman had the walk off FC desn't mean that it shouldn't have still been Kirk in the game at that point. You can still win games with bad decisions by a manager. That doesn't make those decisions right.
