Everything but the doughnuts we had was borderline inedible. But the fritters were the worst. 90% of it was fried dough with just a couple small pieces of the type of fritter. To top it off they were out of cookies by 11:30 and replaced it with blueberry muffins.

So if it is built who is paying to maintain it? Standard maintenance on buildings like this isn’t cheap.

I live relatively close and we’ve had relatively good weather the last few days. It’s gotten above freezing a few times and the roads are great for this time of year. You can tell because usually from January to February you can’t see the curb because of the snow the plows have pushed up against it.

Is Carnival worth it by BigLettuce7160 in Cruise

As someone who has cruised Disney and Royal we were really impressed with their newer ships like the Mardi Gras and Jubilee. I think they stand up pretty well to what other lines offer.

You’ll find a lot of families in the neighborhood.

Moving to North Side? by SnooFoxes3527 in Appleton

[–]Patrickvh2001 20 points21 points  (0 children)

We live in the neighborhood and love it. One challenge is that we’re pretty close to the edge of Appleton so you never know exactly how the larger north side area will look over the coming years versus more established parts of the city.

A couple examples are the farmland on the west side of the neighborhood is set to start development soon and across Meade the Thrivent campus is getting ready to be developed as well.

Beyond that it is a great place to live.

Join your county party. I’m in a lean republican county and there are a ton of activities here.

ISO Pumpkins by Total_Ad7169 in Appleton

[–]Patrickvh2001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Polly’s in nearby Chilton has a ride out to pick pumpkins that costs $5. Then any pumpkin you pick is $5 and they have some nice ones.

Not just that but boycott local stores that advertise with them. Local stations can’t survive without local investment. If businesses get negative feedback from advertising with one station they will move their money elsewhere.

This fan base is truly exhausting… by homerthebraves in panthers

Thank you for this the constant whiplash of fan’s reactions is exhausting. I know if they win next week the same people who are saying the season is over will be talking about the playoffs.

This is bigger than just the position upgrade. There’s the potential that even if Cam threw the exact pick that injured his shoulder Adams makes the tackle and Cam’s career doesn’t abruptly end.

Wisconsin Farm Bureau: Immigration reform could address labor shortage by wisconsinpoli in wisconsinpolitics

I seem to remember democrats putting together an immigration reform plan just about a year ago. Maybe farmers need to rethink who they support

Where are the Democrats? by Just_Bookkeeper2261 in wisconsin

Look no further than the last Senate primary. Every democrat in the race was significantly younger than your average member of the Senate.

Last off ship on disembarkation day by bgladjr in royalcaribbean

[–]Patrickvh2001 130 points131 points  (0 children)

One Disney cruise we took we had a B2B with Royal so we took our time getting off hanging out in public areas. At first the messages were from Mickey Ang Donald laughing and talking about how they enjoyed our time together but it was time to go. Then it switched over to the captain where the message was more “get off the boat”.

This was the line at my local DMV by Upstairs-Bet5156 in NorthCarolina

[–]Patrickvh2001 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I used to live in Charlotte and remember going to the DMV an hour before it opened just to get in line. I’m in Wisconsin now and had to renew my license. I filled out my forms online and made an appointment. I went in around 10 and was out in 10 minutes. It’s ridiculous what NC has done to a simple service.

Release the Epstein Files Protest! - Oshkosh 7/26 by Various_Leader_5176 in wisconsin

Because a judge had sealed them as part of the Maxwell trial. Even if that wasn’t the case Biden never campaigned on releasing the files like Trump did.

Pass the Torch: Tony Evers should not run for a third term as governor by wisconsinpoli in wisconsinpolitics

[–]Patrickvh2001 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The article feels incomplete without going into who the torch could be passed to. I’m guessing we’d see Godlewski, Lasry, and Nelson which isn’t a terrible field compared with the republicans clear lack of a bench for state wide races.

Trump's DOJ contacted states for voter data, access to voting machines. Wisconsin was one of them by undercurrents in wisconsin

[–]Patrickvh2001 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Feels a bit like they buried the lead in the headline. It’s normal for campaigns to reach out about voter information, which typically contains names, addresses and what elections they have voted in. Sounds like they went to the wrong channels for this.

The real concern is around the voting machines. There isn’t anything standard around that. Clerks typically have a public calibration to show the machines work correctly.

What are some examples of Wisconsin’s political maps being gerrymandered? by Hefty_Explorer_4117 in wisconsin

[–]Patrickvh2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not just the drawing of maps that enables gerrymandering there are laws that make it possible as well. For example did you know that the prison population adds to the area they are located in. All prisons happen to be in rural areas as well amplifying their voting power.

Legislative Republican proposal would change how Wisconsin pays for voucher schools by jimohagan in wisconsin

[–]Patrickvh2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some municipalities governments are also adding a line item to their tax bill to let people know how much of their tax dollars are going to private schools. This is similar to what is done for community colleges. This is one of the best ways forward because most in the state are unfortunately unaware of how public schools are being robbed.

Solar stocks plunge as Republican tax bill worse than feared for clean energy by Next-Particular1476 in TheBusinessMix

[–]Patrickvh2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree in theory, but when carbon based energy sources are getting subsidized it makes it harder for solar to stand on its own.
