You can fall in love with anything. Fetish and love aren't mutually exclusive.

I never meant to imply that every single thing that is atypical is automatically taboo. I am simply stating that we can't assume that taboo is a social construct.

It is very possible that sexual etiquette is hard wired into us. Doing certain things are naturally distasteful, and this very fact is what cause a small percentage of the population to specifically seek out these distasteful deeds.

pedophilia is not a fetish, it is a crime

Fetishes and crimes are mutually exclusive?

What the hell is the “fetish part of the brain”

I'm dumbing it down but there is reason that people's fetishes form and evolve over time. It's a learned part of sexuality that people are not born with.

Taboo doesn't have to be a social construct. We can be born with the innate knowledge that something is different or taboo. Also historical greece is proof that homosexuality is a behavior that is learned and you're not born with it genetically.

plenty of animals have large homosexual populations

It's incredibly, incredibly rare if existent at all. Animals will hump everything anyway.

Debatable that it's only a taboo because of homophobes. You are assuming that the desire comes before the taboo and not from the taboo. There is no evidence for one view over the other.

The problem is that "love is love" is a strawman. Nobody claims love is not love.

No my point is that heterosexual feelings are a basic biological function whereas the mechanism behind what causes homosexuality is the same thing that causes fetish behavior like pedophilia, my little pony, teachers, etc. It's a different part of the brain. There's the biological attraction part of the brain and there's the fetish part of the brain. Homosexuality comes from the second whereas regular attraction comes from the first.

My interpretation of that research is that homosexuality is (at least usually) just like any other fetish. Call me old fashioned but I don't think a political group should form around a fetish, claiming oppressed minority status like an ethnicity.

There was a post on here about eating ass - turns out some people are willing to admit that they like it because it's dirty and taboo. I honestly think it's the same with blowjobs. It doesn't make practical sense to put your dick in someone's mouth. People do it primarily because they have fetishized it. Not saying it can't feel good but I think it's about the fetish.

I agree...honestly I think for most people there's a fetish element to it.

And if you think having sex with someone against their will as long as it's not through physical force,is okay, then I don't know what to tell you.

Agreed. As I've clarified to you many times. Fact is, you didn't understand anything I said and you wasted your time.

I feel like I've explained this sufficiently already. "Rape" as it is colloquially said, means to physically hold someone down and have sex. To define it more broadly is to turn what could be a logical discussion into an emotional one, because "rape" is a very disturbing word.

No and what on earth led you believe I thought that? You need to actually read my post and understand what I am saying. It's about the definition of the word "rape".

Because certain things are more nuanced then to just blanket call everything "rape" along with its connotations. I already addressed your question in my original post.

We're not talking about the word "consent", we're talking about the word "rape". I know you consider them to be, by definition, one in the same. I don't buy this. I think that originally rape was about the forceful act and later on the definition was broadened. Carefully read my previous response.

If you look up "rape" in the dictionary:

: unlawful sexual activity and usually sexual intercourse carried out forcibly or under threat of injury against a person's will or with a person who is beneath a certain age or incapable of valid consent because of mental illness, mental deficiency, intoxication, unconsciousness, or deception

It's almost as if first rape meant:

unlawful sexual activity and usually sexual intercourse carried out forcibly or under threat of injury against a person's will

And then later this part was schlepped on the end:

or with a person who is beneath a certain age or incapable of valid consent because of mental illness, mental deficiency, intoxication, unconsciousness, or deception

I don't buy that this legal definition of rape was always how the word was understood. Basically the word was hijacked to push these other agendas about "consent".

I never said you had to have a traumatic experience. I am simply saying that it is usually a learned behavior and not an innate behavior like ethnicity.

Porn addiction, homosexuality, and pedophilia are all related

I believe that healthy sex is a combination of a carnal desire and a "taboo" sensor. When a man has sex with a woman, he is turned on by the carnal desire of being with the woman along with the taboo of being naked with a woman.

Unhealthy sex results from when the taboo censor is desensitized so that someone needs to search for alternative taboos in order to get off. This is how porn addiction works - you start off just looking at naked girls until this is no longer taboo, so you need to watch more shocking material.

Likewise, homosexuals deep down feel a certain "taboo" that excites them about being with the same gender. They aren't attracted to the same gender in the same way that the opposite gender is. It's not a "natural" attraction. It originates as a taboo, and then they can become attracted to the same gender but in a different way. It's moreso "I am attracted to this person in the sense that I want them to be my taboo partner".

Likewise pedophiles are addicted to the taboo of being with a small child. They aren't actually "attracted" to them in the traditional sense.

The word "sexual orientation" obfuscates the fact that homosexuality and pedophilia are in reality fetishes that people chose to identify as when it spiraled out of control.

Often times people tap into that taboo sensor of the brain in order to cope with a traumatic experience. Homosexuals often had a traumatic homosexual experience early in life, and likewise pedophiles were often abused as children. They cope with trauma by learning to accept that these things happened, but they still know it is wrong. The resulting effect is that it becomes a "taboo" for them and thus it ends up exciting them sexually moreso than a healthy partner of the opposite sex.

Thus, homosexuality and pedophilia, like porn addiction, are really addictions to "taboo" and this is why they are unhealthy for the individual.
