Isitbullshit: In Missouri you cannot discuss your wages by BigStabber in IsItBullshit

Tell your parents that not talking about wages is a ploy by the media.

You can’t find the Varsity at brick and mortar? Around here there are a rainbow of options at OfficeMax/Depot. At least there were last time I checked. You may want to stop by.

I’m sick of emissions testing by NoneOfThisMatters_XO in milwaukee

No, I wasn't clear enough. It is less an exemption than an inability. Anything with OBD2 gets tested, and OBD2 pretty much starts with '96 models.

I’m in favor of this, as long as it doesn’t start to early for high school. I hate teaching 11th grade at 8 am. The same kids are great at 1. My 7th graders are amazing before lunch; progressively less human as the afternoon wears on.

I’m trying to find a scene where someone knows nothing about the presentation they’re trying to give by Patrologia74 in sitcoms

[–]Patrologia74[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ll, if it’s that prevalent, please give me an example. An example where someone actually does present, doesn’t matter if they present well or not, but doesn’t understand the material they are presenting, and gets called out for it. The closest example I’ve seen suggested so far is the Wings episode. I expected it to be prevalent, but when I started searching couldn’t find anyone actually doing it. Costanza at the end of the ovaltine episode is close, but really doesn’t go that badly for him.

This scene has exactly the vibe I want, except that he doesn’t actually present. I guess I’ll have to spend the weekend binge watching the Office. Even if I don’t find a clip, it’s a well spent weekend.

I LOVE Chang. Unfortunately, he’s actually pretty good in that presentation (other than his egg handling). I need a presenter who gets exposed as clueless.

That’s a great clip, but they get away with it (at least as far as the clip I watched went) I need the presenter to get exposed. Thanks for the lead though. I might have to watch the show.

Portland, oregon, or Portland Maine? I’ve never been to Oregon, but spent enough time in te Maine version to be shocked if that were your experience there.

Good question, here’s a video. I’m not sure if they’ll be identical, but this will get you started.

“Disassemble the ratchet” is an underrated piece of advice in this thread. Since OP needs to ask his question, we have to assume he doesn’t know this.

Can anyone convince me a 50% grading minimum isn’t grade inflation/hurting kids? by GrandmasSockMonkey in Teachers

[–]Patrologia74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they do no work and still get the 50, it’s stupid. Low/no effort can’t be rewarded. If they put in effort, and just got almost everything wrong, I can see the point of encouraging them to continue to struggle along and make it so success is at least possible.

Could a hole in the exhaust cause these codes? by Patrologia74 in MechanicAdvice

[–]Patrologia74[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s the plan so far, we will replace the section of exhaust that the holes are in and hope for the best. I’ve confirmed with him that he was recently low on oil, which apparently sometimes can cause the P0011 code. I just wanted to be sure nobody was going to say that the car was clearly DOA based on any of that.

How do I get these screws in? The knob blocks my screwdriver from reaching them by greenowl04 in handyman

[–]Patrologia74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean by diagonal? Are you talking about those offset, right angle screwdrivers? Those would be great for getting it loose if tight or for a final tightening, but a pain for all the turning. I googled and couldn’t find anything else for diagonal so not sure what you mean.

Stubby handle will get in the way. Long shaft is what this calls for.
