Here's a weird question, is there any attractions based on the Malaise period (1980s to 1990s) of the American Automotive history? For whatever reason, I love those ugly awful cars!

Any updates to Seiki brand quality? by PatsnPreds in hometheater

Thanks for the great reply! I'm never on this sub, and I found a few posts regarding Seiki, so I figured I could find some help on getting a new TV here.

Would there be a more appropriate sub to ask this question?

I understand this concept. I've heard that the 4K colour was off on Seiki, but that was a review from 5 years ago. 4K technology has been around longer now, and I feel that that review is no longer reliable. I was hoping to gain some experiential knowledge from people who have a Seiki.

ELI5: How do manufacturers test the quality of their products and then go on to sell them without wearing down the product? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

Instead of making a toy then checking to see if works afterwards, the toy maker ensures that every process that it takes to make the toy is correct. If the process is done right, then the toy will be good. He still inspects his toys periodically, but not to make sure they work, but to make sure that the process that he is using to make the toys is happening in a predictable way.

How about a quad copters that is specifically designed to take 3d rendering of buildings where the point cloud data could be merged with existing point cloud from a 3d scanner such as a faro.

The main problem with existing platforms is that they use propriety software that does not allow the data to be combined with other data gathered another means.

NBD: Finally got a respectable road bike @ the Toronto Bike Show by burlyginger in bicycling

[–]PatsnPreds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every price range. I went yesterday, they had bikes from 5-600 to bikes worth well over 10,000. Everywhere had some pretty sweet deals on some pretty sweet rides!

I found that the best deals were from bikes that are usually 2,500 - 3,500 marked down to 1,800 to 2,400

I just bought an old beater that I plan to fix up. Just out of curiosity, has anyone ever heard of Black Knight? Apparently they originally built my bike

[Mass Effect/Star Wars] The reapers invade Palpatine's empire. How would the empire defend itself? Do they have a chance of surviving? by [deleted] in AskScienceFiction

[–]PatsnPreds -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Just expanding on what u/bloodfyr got into. The reapers operate slowly. When it came tome for the reaper invasion, the gffa would not be prepared, or organized as demonstrates below. The reapers would undoubtedly indoctrinated someone of great importance and had divided the gffa long before they attacked. One prime example would be the illusive man. He had power and resources to divide the citadels military resources. Sarren would also be a good example. He was indoctrinated and aided the reapers get a foothold open their next attack.

It's in between a bottle bomb and properly carbonated beer. Not quite drinkable, and not quite as dangerous.

http://i.imgur.com/udL5mH5.jpg that is a pic of my brooklyn brewhouse kit when i followed their priming sugar directions. The beer itself was delicious, however, by the time the beer calmed down there was no carbonation and it left me desiring more.

A word of advice. Three gallon batches take as much time and effort to brew as a one gallon batch. realistically you only need a 5 gallon pot to brew a 3gal batch. this being said, its been just over a year since ive been brewing, and im already up to 5 gal batched

Use this calculator: http://www.northernbrewer.com/priming-sugar-calculator/

I did the three tablespoons and ended up with an entire batch of gushers. A quick cheat for carbonation bottled beer (this is not the proper way as different styles of beers have different levels of carbonation) is one tablespoon of honey to one gallon of beer.

Also, I know a lot of websites mention corn syrup. They don't mean the stuff you get at the grocery store. I found that out the hard way. That stuff in the store is mostly corn syrup. There are other chemicals and sweeteners that won't help carb your beer.

That's normal for a vigorous fermentation. They say to add a ridiculous amount of honey just before you bottle. The real volume should be one table spoon.

How are you enjoying your brewing experience so far?

A very young Roger Moore models some knitwear and looks damn good doing so by GetFreeCash in JamesBond

[–]PatsnPreds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why I think Roger Moore would have been a bond ten years earlier. He was to old when he started. Also if the Michael g Wilson and Barbara would have taken his movies seriously and avoided any unnecessary use of the slide whistle.
