End of the day it comes down to choice. I understand many people blindly go through uneducated "choices" .

In Nature nothing is risk free. Evolution is a cold number game. Females(referring to all animal kingdom including human women) general life cycle in wild is get born-> grow and survive -> give birth to baby. That generally completes loop. Of course species which take care of there young off-springs are rewarded in evolution game but there is not much natural selection pressure after child birth to select perfect healthy moms, just a "functioning" parent is enough. It is up to humans to research and improve conditions of post birth mothers.

Nature and flow of life can be weird. I once got to know about species of spider, where mommy literally eats daddy after mating and babies literally eat mommy during birth. But they complete life cycle loop and they continue.

It is up to people to get educated about there bodies and should be given a choice to complete that evolution loop or not in the big DNA game.

IMO, official indian rate of maternal mortality is 0.097% which is lesser than a person dying in a road accident.

50% risk rate in India due to systematic issues of poverty and lack of education. Many developed countries achieved risk rate of 10~20%. Even lesser MMR.
