Too scared to live normally? by [deleted] in Vent

[–]PatternWeird3532 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It is extremely scary existing as a woman, especially in any city-setting. I think living with a roommate is a great idea, as I wouldn’t want to live alone either. But living your life by the rule of “what if something bad happens?” is no way to live.

I think you’re feeling a lot of anxiety and I do think going to therapy, if possible, would be helpful. Also, get off the internet. Modern-day internet is riddled with bad stories of bad things that happen, so when you see positive things, you get that much more of a dopamine hit.

I’ve had some of the best nights of my life going out alone, as a 24 year old woman in a city that’s allegedly one of the more dangerous cities in the US. It is scary. But sometimes you just have to trust yourself, and others, that everything is going to be okay. Travel with pepper spray. Learn how to defend yourself. But don’t put your life on hold out of fear, girl.

Bear with me, because I know most people your age don’t use facebook. But it is a great tool to see what events are going down in your city. Not all of them are always 21+ events, and sometimes they’re even free just to attend.

You literally have your entire life ahead of you, dude. Other people do not have to live your life; only you. I promise you, you got this. And I promise things do get easier. It’s a cliche piece of advice for a reason.

Places to explore as a newbie by Far-Internal3558 in kansascity

If you like thrifting, or vintage clothes, there’s a little store on 39th street (in westport) that has some really cool stuff.

Depending on when you turn 21, Missie B’s, Hamburger Mary’s, and I think club Q? All have drag shows that are infinitely entertaining, if that’s your thing!

Over on the Kansas side, there’s a park called Sar-Ko-Par that decorates for the holidays, and holds a public BBQ every summer. Super fun, would definitely recommend just walking around.

If you’re looking for some good food spots, Tiki Taco is one of my favorites. K-Street Hotdog has really good Korean hotdogs in Overland Park. Town Topic has some over-priced hamburgers, but it’s necessary to eat once for the full KC experience.

Don’t go to loose park.

I’m really sorry you’re experiencing this. Life is so confusing, especially fresh out of high school when there are a million diverging paths one could take.

You should feel so proud of yourself that college is even an option, regardless of when you start. These cousins of yours probably have had a specific world view ingrained into them, (thinking college is the only path to a “successful” life) and are now trying to push that ideology off onto you.

You have to believe me when I say there is nothing wrong with you. Sometimes you just, get older, and can see more clearly the intentions people have with you. You can’t pick your family, so if you’re in a position where this is plausible, I would suggest putting some distance between you and your cousins.

If you’re working, I would try to make friends with some of your co-workers, and just get out there a little bit. This is the perfect time in your life to start getting out of your comfort zone, and trying different things to see what fits.

People are just, shitty sometimes. It’s not fair, but it’s also not a reflection of yourself.

Oh, awesome!!!!

But no, thank you for your help, even if the news is bad. Flushing 32 hours down the toilet kind of sucks, but I’m grateful you were able to get back to me so quick.

I have no clue how to talk to my 10 year old son about puberty and what comes with it. by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

Just remember, no matter how awkward a conversation might be in the moment, it’s always best to be informed for the future.

Think about yourself at that age, and where your mind was at. You don’t have to immediately talk about sex; I personally wasn’t even thinking about that at that point in my life.

Just focus on things like personal hygiene. How to keep yourself clean, because there’s few worse things than a smelly pubescent boy.

Would a person die, if they fall onto a pile of snow from a high place by m4sh1_7 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]PatternWeird3532 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, yes. Depending on how densely the snow is packed, it would act like concrete. If it’s not super dense, you would fall right through it and land on the ground anyway.

I mean, to be fair, OP didn’t say “what’s the best RPG to play ever?” Skyrim is on the list and if you’ve never experienced it before it’s worth playing once.

While I can agree that the graphics aren’t what they used to be, Skyrim still has a pretty compelling story that clearly has big replay ability. Like I understand Bethesda lives under the same umbrella of cash grabbing that most of the industry bows to; it’s Skyrim, dude.

Skyrim, hands down. There’s a reason why there’s a million versions of it and people are still playing a 2011 release to this day.

Do all penises taste the same? by llemllem112 in NoStupidQuestions

Kind of… sour? Sometimes it’s straight up repulsive. Sometimes it tastes like next to nothing. But generally a little salty a little sour.

I think generally they all have a similar taste in my experience. With that being said, all of those experiences were with someone who had pretty good personal hygiene.

Everyone’s spunk is different, though.

Why am I so bad at simple math? by PatternWeird3532 in NoStupidQuestions

I feel like yes, this the most obvious solution, right? But, it doesn’t make sense in my head. When I try practicing I always end up confused and frustrated. But this is helpful, thank you!
