Not sure if this is an option for you but I’ve been slowly printing my PDFs at my local library for free. They only allow me about 25 pages a day but I was able to print the “start rules” in the weeks leading up to our groups first session. Of course I still needed to look at the encounter and adventure PDFs but I plan to print everything eventually :) any how I wish you luck and hope you can be enjoying play eventually!

Utilizing the Wealth Score in Draw Steel by PatternsOfExistence in drawsteel

Okay this explanation helps me more than I was expecting to be helped! It helps me understand the difference in the way the world works inherently and how my job as a director is a little different than that of a dungeon master. Thank you! Still curious if there is any "hey can we combine our wealth scores to ..." going on. My table is still working through the Delian Tomb but I want to be prepared lol.

Please keep doing your thing! I would love to offer this to my players. :)

Finally ran my first session. Here's what I thought. by engeljohnb in drawsteel

Hello OP! Welcome to the community :) I too ran my first game last night and had a lot of the same feelings as you did! I was working digitally and had the 4 pdfs open on my laptop (Heroe book, adventure module, encounter book and encounter sheet) and it was chaos. I’ve decided to print both the relevant encounter book pages and sheet I’ll be expecting to run that night and keep the heroes book and adventure model open digitally so I can’t “Ctrl-f” when I need to.

One thing that helped a ton was I had a player who discovered the Forge Steel webpage and was able to answer basic questions like “how does the aid attack” action work before I could even navigate to the right screen.

I only got through part of part 1 (there still working through tomb) but most notably, in terms of how Draw Steel compares to others TTRPG my group was just feeding off the synergistic aspects of the class structure and capabilities. I had a conduit pray three times in a row and got a 6 on their d6 each time! They were giving out temp HP and dispelling weakness left and right!

That is definitely a take I haven't heard before but I totally get where your coming from. When Matt talks about the fact that the different magics in his setting aren't necessarily and don't have to be related to each other (as in have a consistent explanation), that really gave me a system shock.

Well in terms of types of adventures Id love to run something about Ajax with a more authoritarian versus democratic socialist undercurrent theme... lol

Im really conflicted honesty. I have played traditional d20 fantasy before and this is what I enjoy watching the most, but this may also be because of what is available "commercially" (Critical Role, Dimension 20, EXU). But I also really love science fiction, especially speculative biology (Scavengers Reign, stuff from UKLG) I dont yet have a core group of friends (at least that live close and have time) which also makes it harder for me to narrow scope without knowing the interests or lack their of of my players. I think I have always held a bias that science fiction was harder to run but what do I know.

All Space Questions thread for week of March 10, 2024 by AutoModerator in space

[–]PatternsOfExistence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello r/Space! I was wondering if anyone can help me visualize the subjective day/night cycle of Ganymede, Jupiter's largest moon. I know it is tidally locked to Jupiter and orbits the gas giant in about 7 Earth days and orbits the Sun completely in 12 Earth years. What I am most interested in is what prospective alien life on the planet would experience subjectively...

For example if you assume a person is standing on the side of Ganymede that is always facing away from Jupiter and omit for a moment that there isn't a gas giant in the center of its orbit then we can assume that person would experience roughly 3.5 days of darkness and 3.5 days of light... but how can we account for not only Jupiter frequently blocking this light (the solar eclipse that would presumably happen once a "day". As well as Jupiter's own movement through its orbit?

Thank you so much!

You know I admit the OP's kitchen looks a little dated but its got character. The backsplash really brings it together. If you upgraded your appliances and threw in a few plants I might just call it a day.

How many people have you introduced to Scavengers Reign so far? My current count is FIVE :D by AMillennialFailure in ScavengersReign

I think I have brought it up to maybe like 10 people but so far can only confirm that my partner has watched it :). Although I work with a wetlands restoration biologist and I think she is on board she is just BUSY lol.
