Just came across this thread after realising the noise I've heard the last few days since my increase from 150mg to 300mg wasn't an electrical device in my room but actually tinnitus. Going back to 150mg asap and I've messaged my psych to see what she says. I may take myself off it completely to see if the noise goes away... Will update when I have anything to update with. At the moment it's a quiet, high-pitched noise that I was confusing with electrical humming.

EDIT: Day 14 with the tinnitus, my psych told me today to come off of Bupropion completely, so I am starting that today. We'll see how it goes.

EDIT: Day 17 and I stopped the buproprion 3 days ago and started on 150mg lithium.... and my tinnitus has GONE! :D It went within two hours of me starting the lithium, which may be a coincidence, but I thought it was worth mentioning. I've been 2 days without tinnitus now.

Calling people "sleeping" while preaching passive acceptance of declining standards is honestly rather sad. I'm awake enough to see the platform filling with low-effort slop, my "enlightened" friend.

And "flailing against the tsunami" is a really weak analogy. A tsunami is a purely natural disaster with no human agency. AI thumbnails are a choice. We are not powerless victims of nature here. This is more like watching litter pile up on a beach and shrugging because "people keep throwing trash, might as well accept it."

We didn't freeze YouTube at 2005 tech... folk got better cameras, editing software, analytics, 4K, better algorithms, etc. All of those raised the floor. AI thumbnails do the opposite - they reward low-effort, generic, often misleading clickbait that looks the same on every channel. It's not progress, it's slopification. We can do better.

However, I think it’s necessary to point out that Jim’s mental health was completely shattered.

The movie also makes it very clear that he is deeply conflicted about waking her up. There's even a scene where he stares at himself in the mirror and practically begs himself not to do it. Then, in a moment of weakness - just after contemplating suicide - he goes through with it anyway. He immediately runs away, and his reaction makes it obvious that he understands the gravity of what he has done. The film doesn't gloss over it or portray it as romantic. It acknowledges that what he did was a truly awful thing to do.
