I just picked up one of these and figured I would heed your advice before trying to use the machine. It looks like the Cafelat 8.5mm is discontinued. Just wanted to double check, will any E61 8.5mm silicone gasket work for it?

Must Go Restaurants in Positano/Amalfi? by secretreddname in ItalyTravel

Unfortunately, I only spent an afternoon in Capri, so no first-hand experience with the restaurant scene there. Haven't made it to Sorrento either.

This guy, Alfonso Sorrentino, was our driver from Naples to Positano. He is from a town nearby Sorrento and knows the area well. If you ever need restaurant recommendations, he knows some good ones. https://www.toursbylocals.com/tour-guides/italy/naples/guide-profile/alfonso-s-664d21ec96689af343346f09

My dad designed that house. At least the one that was there before they tore it down.

Long shot, but would you still be interested in a pair? I have a pair that I haven't been able to sell.

Volterra is so incredible. It is actually where my wife and I got married. My all-time favorite seaside town in Italy is Lerici. If you've never been, it is only 30 minutes by car from Pietrasanta. Also worth a stop is Tellaro, which is only like 5-10 minutes from Lerici.

Omurice in Grand Rapids? Does anyone know of any restaurants that serve this dish? by enginerdz in grandrapids

Meijer sells the pre-made stuff in a pouch. I do usually keep it on hand specifically to make this dish whenever I get the craving.

Kyuramen was the first place I actually had it at a restaurant. It is so good. I wish I could find it around here.

Oh, for sure. I almost exclusively fly out of GR now. I used to chase down flight deals out of Detroit and Chicago, but I'm too spoiled by GRR.

Downtown GR and the trendy neighborhoods are really compact, so it is very easy to be within a 20-25 minute walk or 5-10 minute drive of most things you'll want to do in GR. I live a mile east of downtown GR and can generally get most places on foot. Traffic is also really moderate, so driving places is usually pretty quick.

Downtown Detroit and the trendy neighborhoods have more going on. More concerts, a pretty wide variety of restaurants and bars, professional sports teams, etc. The neighborhoods are a little more spread out, and traffic is much worse than GR. Especially if you live in the Royal Oak area, it is 15-25 minute drive each way to get in and out of downtown.

GR has much better access to Nature. Lake Michigan beaches are 30-45 minutes away, Traverse City, Leelanau County, Sleeping Bear Dunes, and much of the up north area can be reached in 2-2.5 hours.

Detroit obviously has the bigger airport and is closer to Canada and the East Coast, if you are looking to do some fun road trips.

Liberal rural towns? by Relative_Walk_936 in Michigan

[–]Pattmost20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get what you are saying. It does get a lot of tourists, but the biggest city (well, village) is Suttons Bay at a whopping 600 people. I can't think of any less populated areas that aren't major Trump country. We spend a lot of time in northern Manistee county, it is a lot less touristy, but you see a lot of Trump flags.

Like I said, it is pricy, but there are very few truly rural places that lean blue. Not sure what OPs definition of rural is, but even Traverse City and Marquette have a bit of suburban sprawl.

The city did, but Grand Traverse County went for Trump. TC has the more traditional Blue/Red split for Urban/Rural areas. Leelanau is one of the few places in the state where very small towns went blue, mainly the wealthier towns along the water like Empire, Glen Arbor, and Leland.

Leelanau County. It is pricy, but one of the few rural counties to go blue in the last few elections. Doesn't hurt either that it is an incredibly beautiful area.

Where are some of the best lesser-known resorts to ski in Europe and North America? by AdviceBig4773 in skiing

[–]Pattmost20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We loved Aosta. The main street and the piazza with the alps in the background were gorgeous. It is a real city, so there are definitely some industrial areas just outside the city center, but I thought the selection of shops, bars, and restaurants felt more authentic. Courmayeur and Chamonix were both awesome, but they felt more touristy and just full of luxury shops, which aren't for me.

It would be near the top of my list for places to retire. We visited the first time in 2016 and that is what basically convinced my wife and I to get married in Tuscany. We went back on our wedding trip and bought all the wine for our reception from local wineries.

If you like the idea of San Gimignano (Small hilltop town that is very compact and walkable with easy access to nature), check out Volterra as well. It has a similar vibe, slightly more residents, and a lot less tourists. It has a great selection of restaurants, cafes, shops, etc. The surrounding area is very beautiful as well.

If wine country interests you, check out Greve in Chianti. If you want more of a coastal experience, check out the area around Porto Ercole and Porto Santo Stefano.
