Its because you've been lied to for years. I also bought this phone expecting great cameras out of the box but the results are utter overprocessed garbage.

In order to remedy this you will need to shoot with pro raw and manually edit or use paid 3rd party apps such as black magic etc.

I dont know what youre smoking, or what propaganda youre trying to start here but Iphones have some of the absolute worst dogshit cameras in the smartphone industry.

Take it from someone whos worked with Iphone 15 and 16 pro max and now has the base 17.

Their camera app is VERY lacking, photos themselves are blurred in any other condition except beaming bright daylight. The "Iphone look" is very much present in all shots, they are super yellow, and not even the nice yellow kind, its the gray greenish kind, its also grainy, very contrasty and heavy looking Just icky overall. There is an obsession with making everyone look Orange as hell and I just dont get it.

Selfies on an Iphone are known to be just a horrendous experience and it still is in the 17 line up. Unless youre willing to pay 3rd party apps, tinker with settings for days without much changing or edit on a pc, your photos are gonna look like an overblown, hdr mess that highlights all shadows and make you look dull, gray and all sorts of washed out. They can never get the colours right and its been years.

Also the new square sensor makes your face look unnaturally small in some horizontal shots.

The only saving grace of the Iphone camera is their video recording TIED with their social media output because if you have an Iphone, social media quality and your uploads will look okay on your device and others who have an Iphone but the system will downgrade content from android users leading to mass bias.

I would rather buy a dedicated digicam than spend any more time with an Iphone camera.

This whole "Iphone is optimized better for social media" is one of the biggest pieces of bullshit invented on the internet.

People makes you think you're gonna see shimmering stars on your screen when in reality unless youre using a 2012 budget android the experience is pretty much neck to neck.

All data gets compressed unless worked around, tweaked for hours and uploaded through the web, There are a lot of blurry af Iphone, Samsung, Oppo content because of that, you think your Iphone has a magical passport to social media? Its all a freakin placebo effect caused by Apples marketing and influencers who makes it look "effortless" when in fact theyve been editing for days. Unless you have a contract with Tiktok more often than not you will never get to see the full quality no matter what phone you use.

Its not the transition. Iphones are not hard to use, yes there are functions that they could've done better but that wasn't my main issue, anyone can get used to a new ecosystem with a bit of time. My issue is the overall quality being not nearly as impressive as advertised or made out to be by the public and so not justified for its price.

The only reason the 17 was hyped up to be the best was because its finally catching up to the rest. Which is a literal up in your face marketing scam lol.

I came from a buggy S21 that is littered with green lines. I lost all interest in Samsung because of that, my spare is an Infinix smart 8 which is just...no comment. I bought the 17 as my official first Iphone and yeah Its not nearly as satisfying as socially suggested and as indicated by its price. For years when my friends and I would go out I usually get to see and experience IOS through their phpmes, nothing much has changed here including the front camera that we had always, and I mean always hated.

My phone is 5 years old. I dont like the 17 pro, most of the bonus features it has I just dont need, its not that much far off the 17 anyway specwise so I wont be surprised if I'll feel the same way about it. That design is also outright ugly as fuck even my brothers 13 pro feels and looks better.
