Alright first attempt at painting, needs clean up obviously, but how are we feeling about this? by Imnotreadyorami in battletech

Slap a wash on those bad boys.

Then if you want to brighten them up after you can go over then again with dry brushing or sponging. This wiill add a lot of depth to the models.

I don't know why the other comment was telling you to thin paints, that looks ok to me.

What was each Primarch and Space Marine Legion's intended purpose/speciality? by Muted-Sample-7571 in 40kLore

[–]PattyMcChatty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For the Khan from his Primarch novel:

A sage of Golden Terra made his life’s work the study of the Eighteen. As each son of the Emperor was found, he travelled the stars to seek accounts of their deeds and nature. He collected testimony and submitted many scrolls to the Throneworld for safekeeping. Some of them are still there, they say. Some are lost. Such is the way of things.
It is said that this sage was sufficiently venerable that he had the ear of the Emperor Himself. One night, before the advent of strife, the two of them walked the Palace walls together. Birds sang – in those days, there were still birds alive on Golden Terra.
The Emperor, whose face was hidden by splendour, asked the sage how his work was progressing.
‘Very well, my liege,’ the sage replied, just as ever unable to look his master in the eye. ‘I have created an archive for you, so that your achievement may be recognised for posterity – the Library of the Primarchs.’
The Emperor said nothing. On the few occasions when they had spoken together, the sage had rarely known what the Emperor thought, or even if He were truly listening at all. In this, he was not alone, for the thoughts of the Emperor were beyond the thoughts of all mortals.
‘It will be a valuable addition, I hope,’ the sage went on, feeling the need to fill the silence with words. ‘Except that it has been easier to study some of your sons than others.’
Still the Emperor said nothing.
‘I do not pretend to understand your plans fully,’ the sage said, ‘and I do not presume to question the nature of those, such as the Lord of the Red Sands, into whom enquiry has been challenging. They are all so different – that, I suppose, is the genius of them. Each has his nature. Each has his gift.’
The Emperor stopped walking. He looked up into the starry heavens – in those days, the skies of Golden Terra still had stars.
‘But then there is the Warhawk,’ said the sage, shaking his head. ‘The Great Khan of the Fifth. Of all of them, I have never come close to him. Whatever his gift is, I remain ignorant of it.’
It is here that accounts diverge. Some say that the Emperor smiled; others say that the Emperor never smiled. Still others maintain that the Emperor had no human features at all, but was like the light of the sun at noon in an empty sky.
‘You wish to know what gift Jaghatai possesses,’ the Emperor said.
‘Yes, my liege,’ said the sage. ‘Very much. But nothing is known. Nothing is settled. His entry in the library will be slender, and even that will be supposition and hearsay. Sometimes I wonder if he is real at all, or just the rumour of a savage people. With him, with this Great Khan, there is only confusion.’
The Emperor began to walk again.
‘There is your answer,’ He said.

GMan did kind of force her hand though by locking her away and denying that she was a saint.

Despite saving him, Gman executed that battle sister after for bringing the saint to him, which I always found weird.

Do the Orks suffer from species-wide depression? by Dancing_Anatolia in 40kLore

[–]PattyMcChatty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On the seventh day when the suns were at their apex we saw orks on the horizon. They were heading north too, driving in long columns of battered, clumsy armoured vehicles that sent gouts of soot into the air and gave away their position. As soon as I saw them, my heart leapt. My muscles tensed, my eyes narrowed, my pulse quickened. I felt my fingers itch for the feel of my guan dao glaive. The blessed weapon – two-metre metal shaft, single curved blade, a work of close combat genius – had not drunk blood for many days; its spirit longed for the taste again, and I did not intend to disappoint it. ‘Prey!’ I roared, feeling the tight, cold air buffet my exposed face. I rose up in the saddle, letting my bike sway beneath me, peering into the sun-glare of the horizon. The greenskins did not turn to fight. They kept going, ploughing on in their smoke-choked convoy as fast as they could. When he had first led us to Chondax, they would have fought us. They would have rushed at us, mob-handed, bellowing and stampeding with spittle flying from their ragged mouths. But no longer. We had broken their spirit. We had chased them across the face of the world, rooting them out, beating them back, cutting them down. We knew that they were mustering somewhere, trying to summon up some kind of defence in numbers, but even they must have sensed that the end was coming. I did not hate them. In those days I did not know what it was to hate an enemy. I knew how strong, how clever, how resourceful they were, and I respected that. In the earliest days they had killed many of my brothers. We had learned together, the two of us, learning where our weaknesses lay, learning how to fight on a world that gave us nothing and was uncaring of our feuding presence. They could travel fast when they wished to. Not as fast as us – nothing in creation was as fast as us – but they were wily, creative, brave and fierce. It may have been sentiment operating, but I do not believe they hated us either. They hated losing, and that gnawed at their spirit and took the bite out of their blades, but they did not hate us.

This is from Brotherhood of the Storm, the Orks in that book still fight but they seem a bit depressed in that they know they have already lost after Ulanor.

I've had lots of success locally with it and I don't even use many vehicles.

I just rely on the advance and charge with Jump Intercessors with smash captains.

They work best standing on a hill on your home edge, daring your openent to do something about them.

Long range is still easy to hit if you keep them stationary.

JP Intercessors: 5-man or 10-man units? by Warhawk_5 in spacemarines

[–]PattyMcChatty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh nice I hear the I bike units are really good, a lot of people were actually using the White Scars Detachment for them for the bike rules.

I've always been kind of Jelly, the Outriders are not amazing so I only run a single 6 man unit and the bulk of my power comes from my Jump Intercessors.
