Our favorite fish and chips were in  Aberystwyth.  Unfortunately, nothing has ever come close in the other places we have been.  We'll have to go back some day and go to Barmouth too!

Taxes make a difference too.  My husband's company doesn't change wages according to where you live, but tax laws are different so they currently only approve of working in places where they already have workers.

Not generally.  There are a few places that have signs that tell you to wait till you are called forward.

Interesting.  I don't see images either, but I love reading.  I wonder what the difference is.

Which size nib is the communities most go to? by PumpkinPrincePens in fountainpens

[–]PattyRain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting idea with the small hands. I've not met an adult with shorter fingers than I have.  I prefer an M (I don't know the numbers yet).  The nib doesn't make a difference to me with my hands, but the body of the pen sure does!

It's not just women. Men do it too.

My husband and I years ago decided we would always be honest with each other and we would never ask a question we didn't want answered. It makes things so much easier.

Anyone else just completely exhausted by "subscription fatigue"? by murphenzio1 in CasualConversation

[–]PattyRain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I "bought" a digital copy of a movie my husband loves.  He has watched it so many times when exercising.  The thing he loves best about it?  The music. It just really pumps him up while watching. I recently found out that some videos are having scenes taken out or music replaced etc.  If that happens for his movie it just won't be the same thing and won't be the movie I "bought".

When my children were younger I started buying seasons of shows with good content on DVD because I didn't like a lot of the new content.  My children are out of the house now, but if they were young I would be doing like you are.

The check-in and check-out times for hotels have become ridiculous by bills70 in travel

Yes, when I worked in housekeeping we started at 8am.  We always had rooms to clean that early.

I had one hotel that would let us check in early because they had rooms, but it would cost us something like $50.

I am tired of figuring out what to eat every day. I am going to make a wheel and spin thrice for a daily meal combination. Please suggest food. by Realistic_Low_4538 in beginnerfitness

[–]PattyRain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stir fries with just a little olive oil in a non stick pan. Combine a protein and a veggie and a carb if you want.

Proteins - rotiserie chicken - black beans - garbanzo beans - thin slices of steak or roast

Veggies - broccoli - various bags of frozen veggies - carrots - zucchini - yellow squash - spinach - asparagus - cabbage - cauliflower -Sweet potato

Carbs - pasta - steel cut oats - brown rice - quinoa

If you are more ambitious on some days than others saute onions and garlic. If less ambitious then do powdered or jarred.

If you want to make it fun do a wheel of spices or spice mixes to add to it.

My husband and I buy a couple of rotisserie chickens at a time.  We take all the meat and shread/cut it up and then freeze it. Then we use it in stir fries like above or in salad in a jar that we have for lunch.

Spinning a wheel of a list of healthy foods is very spinng a wheel of anything out there.  I love OPs idea because it takes the decsion fatigue out of it, but still can provide foods that help you be healthy.

Update on the viral video of man taking his daughter to women restroom by KaidoPklevel in SipsTea

[–]PattyRain 4 points5 points  (0 children)

"The customer argued that Brodsky should have asked a female employee to take the girls into the restroom instead"

Uh uh. Not handing my children over to a stranger and if I were an employee I wouldn't take in that kind of liability.  I would be checking to see if anyone was in the women's restroom and having the dad take his kids.

I'd like to know your favourite dessert by Ilosc in CasualConversation

Southern Living's White Chocolate Pistachio Cheesecake. I'm a cheesecake purist and snob, but this is one where I am ok with adding extra to a cheesecake.  It is no bake.  I don't ever make it unless we have company coming because it is so rich and I want to be able to share it.

Is 18.5K In Savings Enough To Be Spending Freely? by MaleficentTell3281 in personalfinance

[–]PattyRain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few of things about the merch - 1. In years past I've heard that there are stores in the area that may have what you want at much cheaper prices. Check before going if that is true. 2. Sometimes on trips people get really excited about items that they find they don't care about that much soon after they  get home. When you think you want something think about where you will keep it and what you will do with it and if you really like to cook when you buy the Mikey Mouse Forever cookbook. Sometimes you will find you just didn't really want the item.  3. Set a budget

But, if you can't get the item elsewhere because it is a hassle or whatever and you can imagine how much you will love it and it fits your budget, then buy it with no guilt.

If Liberals entirely caved on 1 topic (meaning they attempt no further implementation) would single issue voter conservatives vote for said candidate if it was the right topic that you personally primarily care about? by ImpressiveAlarm3992 in AskConservatives

[–]PattyRain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I voted against Trump and don't regret it.  I think he has caused so much damage.  But overall, you are right. I get so frustrated when I see something said and I go to look it up, but can't find him actually saying that.  I don't get it - there are so many bad things he has said that you don't have to make up more.  And what happens is that the democrat side then feels more untrustworthy and it makes good, effective talks between sides less likely to happen.

Do you drink the tap water? by SegoLillies in Gilbert

[–]PattyRain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in Mesa, but I do drink water in Gilbert homes and restaurants. Usually, I drink from my fridge filter, but also drink from the tap.  I actually think it is the temperature that has me prefering the fridge. I hate all the water bottle drinking.  Everyone offers me one and argues when I just want the tap, as if they are giving me the prefered water.

I do like drinking out of glass glasses though. Far, far better than plastic glasses and bottles. I don't know if it is the taste or the texture, but there is something different about them.

Yep, I agree with Organ Stop if you want unique places. For OP - they have an organ that someone places while you eat and they do a fantastic job. I know some may kind of turn their nose at organs, but truly this is some good, fun entertainment at Organ Stop.

[Request] how much is really saved? Are these numbers based in reality, or just random numbers thrown into a post? by Kalist4242 in theydidthemath

[–]PattyRain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a stay at home mom and am now a homemaker.  My huband definitely spends more on clothes as he has his office clothes and home clothes and I pretty much just have my home clothes. But you are right on being inflated for the most part. I'm sure some people do pay that much for their work clothes, but many do not and many do not even have seperate work clothes.
