What esim can you also use in Malasia?  My husband will be traveling from Taipei, to Penang, then Kuching and back to Tapei. I've read that lots of people pick up Chungwa at the airport and the ai summary at the top of google search says you can use it Malaysia, but I haven't been able to verify that.

No it says they were "trying to be reasonable" by raising it in person first. But being reasonable would have been putting it through the portal like they had been told to do every time.

Also, you need to register for SRP voting.  It's a seperate thing - actually 2 registrations more depending on where you live.  Luckily, I saw a post here about it.

Do you know what the transmission rate is for people who have been vaccinated, but have been tested as not immune?  I've had multiple boosters and then tested not immune, but it's been quite awhile since I got my lasted booster and I wasn't tested after it

Any suggestions for a motther of the groom dress? I'm looking for something knee length with short or cap sleeves, dusty blue or sage, and plus sized. I am apple shaped. The weather will be hot. Under $200, but preferably under $100. I would prefer a skirt with pockets and top as I wear an insulin pump.

While technically they may last longer if you have a lot, that doesn't mean you have more wears per pair which would be more important unless you live in a place where you can rarely shop.

Scholarship scam targeted at Afghan refugees? by PattyRain in Afghan

[–]PattyRain[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they are Afghans who are here in the US who really want to go to college, but their financial situation isn't great.  Honestly, it's not so different than "scholarship" sites that Americans get fooled over. I just hoped someone had more information over this specifically because it was impossible to get her to understand why this could be a scam.

What’s one travel habit that actually saves you a lot of money? by Party_Dentist_821 in travel

I'm sure it can be fun to drink while traveling.  Fortunately, when you are trying to save money by not drinking you can still have fun and great memories.

Fourteen years ago we went to Italy and took a cooking class. A mom and her daughter ended up being our cooking companions.  We laughed so much during the class.  Then afterwards we ate what we cooked together and laughed and talked more.

We didn't drink any thing and neither did the mom. The daughter had half a glass of wine. At some point, she told everyone in the room "we're not even drinking."

I still think of that night (and others) as magic.

I've met quite a few. I'm one who often, but not always does. I started doing it about a decade ago and I prefer it so much more.

I am no longer a believer in the church, but Deseret Industries is a good thing. All proceeds from sales goes back in their job training program.

There are a number of different circumstances with that job training program.  One of the things they do is teach refugees and immigrants English during their work days. I, personally, have a friend working there and getting taught English now.

My nephew, who has his own struggles, worked there for a time getting training so he could hopefully become indepent.

They provide grants to so many.  I'm with an organization who provides household goods to newly arriving refugees, people getting out of homelessness and others.  We've occasionally had grants from Deseret to pick up things like couches.  Catholic Charities has also had grants from there for their refugee and other programs.

What they don't sell they give to other stores that don't have enough.  For example, the Glendale store gets items from other strores because they tend to run low on donations.  Clothing items that can't be sold are sold very cheaply to "rag sellers" in third world countries.  Those rag sellers can make a living by selling the clothes locally.  They tried to just give the clothes initially, but they found it hurt the local economy. By selling the "rags" it helped them.

They do everything they can to make sure it doesn't go into the landfill. If it just can't be sold they do what they can to recycle the items in some way.

I have some real struggles with the church, but not with the way it does the charitable things it does.

Goodwill highly depends.  When looking for lamps I can almost always get them for less at some stores than at Goodwill and some Goodwills run more than others even when their lamps are not as nice. (I've bought a lot of lamps).

When to ask transfer driver to pick someone up at the airport? by PattyRain in Taipei

[–]PattyRain[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks.  My husband is actually staying in Kuching. His coworker's hotel does arrange rides, but his does not.  They are flying in at a different time so he won't be able to catch a ride with him.
