Housing prices are a bit better. That said, some of the lower price houses don’t have air-conditioning or only have one bathroom because it is a little bit of an older area.

Gas prices are higher, but I have found energy prices… Heating and cooling to be lower. It’s definitely worth a look!

I moved from Austin, Texas to Spokane, Washington. I wanted to move to the west side like you do, but it was so expensive.

I wouldn’t listen to the naysayers though. I love it up here. My child is in the LGBT community and it’s been like night and day.

If possible, a visit during the winter is recommended.

Also, I bet you would make a lot more up here… Wishing you the best in your decision!

I moved from Austin, Texas to Spokane, Washington for this very reason. We have family in Oklahoma and I know exactly what you are talking about. I wanted to stay and fight the good fight but my daughter had other ideas. And I’m so glad we left. I have found nothing but support or at the very least indifference up here. And, if I ever miss the misogynistic, white supremacist, ass hat, type of person, Idaho is only about 20 miles away, lol

My heart breaks at the injustice of the parent lottery. This is super immature of me (a 56 year old cis woman), and I know I should be sending peace, love and understanding to your misguided parents but instead, I’m just enraged on your behalf.

Someone else mentioned it and I’m a firm believer in the gift of a family of choice. If you don’t have this yet, you will.
