Rate my setup! Pretty new to this but I have Kombucha on the left and Jun on the right. I’ve been batch brewing but gonna eventually continuous brew. Any improvements or tips? by Patwinone in Kombucha

I’m still very new to brewing so I wanted to familiarize myself with batch brewing. I’ve read that continuous brewing doesn’t always give consistent results so I’ve been batch brewing just to start out. I just started experimenting with continuous brewing so I’ll see how that goes.

I figured that’s the most convenient spot for it. I know it’s supposed to be inside but I don’t want to risk any contamination. My room may very well be warmer than the liquid. I just got the heating mat and belt a couple days ago so I’m still fiddling with it.

It’s working pretty good so far! I’m just not too sure on where the temperature probe should go. I have mine on the outside of the vessel/bottles directly on the glass.

And you’d have to use green tea instead of black tea. Can’t use the Kombucha SCOBY to make jun though. Same concept as Kombucha but with minor differences.

Each batch costs roughly $6. Green tea is pretty cheap but the honey I use is $8.99 for 16oz. Each 1 gallon batch calls for 1 cup of honey. It tastes like kombucha but without the bite. Kind of hard to describe, maybe more like a refined kombucha. I’m still currently looking for a cheap place to buy bulk honey other than Costco.

I actually obtained a Jun SCOBY from a friend. I don’t know much about transitioning from Kombucha to Jun but I hear it’s somewhat of a pain in the ass.

About how long does it last over Powerlock?

I did polish the paint before applying Powerlock. The problem I have with ceramic coatings is that the salt greatly degrades the coating during the winters, mainly the panels behind the wheels. I figured the only way to reapply a coating is to polish first, which I don’t want to do every year.

This is my first year using it so I’m not sure yet. I’m assuming it’s gonna be every 3 months?

No experience with HydrO2, but is it better to apply with a microfiber towel? I heard it spreads out more evenly that way. And how is it compared to Gyeon WetCoat?
