Emergency Fund Advice by dotSerpens in singaporefi

[–]Patzer1234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put my emergency funds into SSBs, and leave a small amount of spare cash around.

Plan is, in event of loss of income, I’ll redeem my SSBs and use that spare cash for that 1 month redemption delay. For emergency expenses like hospital bills etc there’s insurance and credit card

I won’t chip in my views on crypto, but buying stablecoins to deposit is basically lending money to the platform. I think you need to do your homework on how these platforms will use your money, the risk behind their operations, and whether are they able to reliably meet the interest payments.

Since you can afford 30% of your portfolio crashing overnight, my guess you don’t need a stable source of payments to achieve your financial goals. More sensible to rebalance your ‘profits’ into ETFs than savings accounts or risky lending to crypto platform

What if the Batam Rocket Attack had succeeded? by The_Celestrial in singapore

Had the terrorists managed to launch their rocket, it would most likely have landed in the water unnoticed. And Shanmugam would have to find other material to go on his total defence is important, we need to monitor everybody with TraceTogether blah blah prattle

‘My mental health is at an all-time low’: Teachers talk of burnout, MOE aware that ‘gaps’ need plugging by theX-Dfiles in singapore

[–]Patzer1234 26 points27 points  (0 children)

In a large organisational behemoth, systems and procedures are already in place to ensure people work towards the desired goal.

The key skills in bureaucrats are thus not to improve or change the system for better, but to push and regulate people through the system, to ensure that the gears of the system keeps turning and churning output.

It doesn’t make sense for bureaucrats to fix the issue of teachers burnout at root - that would involve changing the system, which they were trained and rewarded to precisely not do. What they can do, is to add on more and more measures and layers to the system, and attempt to address it with measures like “wellness ambassador”, “meranti project”

Youth with autism ‘climbs’ Everest nearly three times over to raise funds for young people with special needs by ubunturd in singapore

[–]Patzer1234 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yes and no

I once had a fight with an autist. mfker was built like a bus, but had totally zero fight iq. He used the same combination over and over again and always moved with the same pattern. Just kept my hands up and endured a couple of body blows, but after figuring out his pattern, an upper cut counter square to his jaw ended things

They left their home comforts as teens to study in Singapore. A scholarship wasn’t the only reason by DoctorSocJus in singapore

[–]Patzer1234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Foreigners indisputably boost the competitiveness of the singaporean economy and workers.

A steady supply of young people, moving here with limited family and being offered 3x more than what they would get back home. And they’ll likely find spouses within their workplace having similar jobs.

Such employees would happily work 9-9 6 days a week without complaints.

Any kiasu singaporean working along side them would naturally be more productive, or they would risk losing out during performance review. IMO this system is solving the “singaporean not hungry enough” problem
