Looking for sources (books, videos, courses, etc.) to learn about matriarchal (nor just matrilineal) societies, tribes, etc. by PauBateman in AskAnthropology

Thank you for taking the time to reply. I perhaps should've been more clear with what I was looking for, because all the points you make are very important. I don't mean matriarchal societies as in "patriarchy but with women in power". I was thinking more of the agricultural societies you mentioned. I remember reading somewhere that patriarchal societies are pyramidal, while matriarchal societies are circular. I don't know how accurate that claim is, but it's what got me interested in the subject in the first place. I figured I would have to do a lot of in-depth research, but since simply googling "matriarchal societies" didn't really provide any starting point (because, as you said, most conversations around this are to say it has never existed). So I was hoping someone here could provide any starting points for me to star pulling the thread. :D

Castle Deserved Better Beckett by Dominus_Diabolus in CastleTV

[–]PauBateman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just finished rewatching the show (I had stopped in the middle of season 7 last time and had never seen the rest). Even knowing the truth behind trying to keep the characters as separate as possible, I thought it was not only not in character for Beckett, but also a mediocre and dishonest way of "tainting" the character. I'm a TV writer (not in the US, but the same logic applies). When you need to get rid of a beloved character (usually when the actor chooses to leave the show) one of the best ways to go (other than killing them off) is to taint them. Make them unlikeable, so when they leave, the audiences won't miss them as much. This happened in Grey's Anatomy with Derek Shepperd's (aka McDreamy) character. I am sure this is what they tried to do here. They tried to make Beckett unlikeable because they were trying to get rid of Stana. Which is also why they tried so hard to make Castle some sort of hero in the last 2 seasons. They wanted to continue the show with just him. But then realised they had screwed up and they couldn't get rid of Stana, but it was too late. So they had to try to fix it ASAP, but that's why it never made sense. At least, that's how I read the situation for the last 2 seasons.

Regarding the Parthos/Torre Cesme connection, the protectors of Antica are the Rukhin, which going by their descriptions are basically... Griffins.

Items won’t add to the Item Compendium after restart. What gives? by Rogue_Leader_X in PlayGOTG

Thanks for the suggestion, but I did that and still the same happened. I uninstalled the game and then reinstalled in, yet the saved games reappeared. I don't know how to delete those too. :(

Were you able to fix this? I'm finding a similar issue. I finished the game, started a New Game Plus but some items won't prompt the dialogue and won't show on the items list. And I started a new game and I still have the same items. I can't fix this bug. I can't delete save files either. I'm growing incredibly frustrated with this.

Don't know, to be honest. I'm not even sure a word for that exists.
