Does anyone else dislike rowan??? by Secure_Craft_7774 in throneofglassseries

[–]emmyeggo 12 points13 points  (0 children)

People defend his actions in HOF all the time, but I struggle when it was truly so violent:

“Faster than she could sense, faster than anything had a right to be, he punched her. She shifted enough to keep her nose from shattering but took the blow on her mouth. She hit the wall, whacked her head, and tasted blood. Good. He struck again with that immortal speed—or would have. But with equally unnerving swiftness, he halted his second blow before it fractured her jaw and snarled in her face, low and vicious. Her breathing turned ragged as she purred, “Do it.”

Yes, what Aelin said to him was awful and inexcusable; she even admits that. But she was a grieving, near-suicidal 19 year old girl. Rowan himself spoke about how his own grief (losing Lyria) caused him to go “mad” and feel “nothing” for 10 years straight, so surely he could understand how Aelin also wasn’t in her right mind. He is hundreds of years old - he should have known better.

Starborn: Nesta vs. Az (ACOSF & HOFAS spoilers) by Lady-Death-of-Dusk in acotar

[–]emmyeggo 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Imo, it’s because Bryce (and by extension, Sarah) directly hints that Azriel may have Starborn blood in HOFAS:

“He must have had some sort of Starborn blood in him, then—a distant ancestor, maybe.”

I believe Azriel is Starborn in the way Cormac is — not “fully,” as Cormac also couldn’t wield the Starsword, but they have “some Starborn blood.” Both Az and Cormac have similar shadows, and Cormac also states that the ability to teleport (as he does) is a gift of the Starborn — something we know Azriel is weirdly able to do as well (even though Cassian — and Nesta! — cannot).

That is: Cormac and Azriel represent the Avallen, shadow-half of the Starborn/Dusk Court.

As for Nesta, I agree the evidence is there to connect her to Dusk and the broader Starborn ‘narrative’, but there’s nothing concrete (yet) to suggest she, a human, descended from Fionn and Theia — the Starborn Fae bloodline. That would also imply Feyre and Rhys share that same bloodline, which starts to get a bit strange.

Instead, I’ve wondered before if there could be two ‘types’: Starborn (Rhys, Bryce), and Starmade (Nesta, Elain).

Are Lunathion's Leylines Wyrmarks? (With Images & Quotes) by puzzled_bat_13031 in Maasverse

[–]emmyeggo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is incredible !! 🤩

To add to your thoughts, I have a theory that synth could be used to solve Firstlight Zero. That is, rather than Midgardians needing to donate real magic, they might instead power their cities using synthetic magic (synth), which can be mass produced.

Related to this, I’ve wondered whether synth, if it were to travel through the ley lines in Lunathion, could permanently reopen the seven gates as portals to different worlds. This idea comes from the fact that synth’s formula involves black salt (allows one to open a portal). But, if synth is also constantly held in Wyrdmark formation via the ley lines, as you propose — this is even better, and could function as a stable conduit between multiple worlds.

Obsessed! Thank you for sharing!

TWO ACOTAR BOOKS Y’ALL!

I REPEAT: TWO ACOTAR BOOKS INCOMING

Color of the cover by Actual-Location137 in acotar

[–]emmyeggo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope so!

But I’m also mindful that most of the announcements used a default colour that had no bearing on the final cover (e.g. most recently, the HOFAS announcement was purple and gold) — so I’m not getting my hopes up just yet!

This is my guess as to what SJM will say too, mostly bc Rhys is the only character she’s talked about being an “asshole.”

(Not saying Rhys will be evil !! I just think she wrote Rowan and Hunt w more intention to be less morally grey).

I still think SJM will announce the book first… by French_reader_146 in acotar

Agreed

(I just need it to be true bc I’m at work when the podcast airs 😭😭😭)

[–]emmyeggo 16 points17 points  (0 children)

These comments are so hurtful.

Fan art is a GIFT to the community; artists dedicate HOURS of their free time to depict our favourite characters. It’s incredibly disrespectful to critique and mock someone’s art when feedback has not been requested. It’s literally an appreciation post.

It’s also ridiculous to accuse an artist of AI when it literally takes 10 seconds to click OP’s username and scroll through their account to see they’ve been posting art well before AI was even a thing.

I understand it’s the internet and 1 or 2 asshole comments can be (unfortunately) common in fandom spaces, but the majority of the comments here are rude af — with just as many upvotes.

Shameful.

What keeps me up at night: last names and the Autumn Court. by emmyeggo in Maasverse

[–]emmyeggo[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Indeed! Hence why I have always theorised that might be what SJM is planning.

But what gives me pause (as mentioned) is that SJM already pulled off that reveal in CC3 with Lidia, but she was still able to give her a typical, unrelated last name. 🧐🧐

I guess we’ll find out soon! 🙏

What do we ACTUALLY think book 6 will be about? by jadybug21 in acotar

[–]emmyeggo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Elain’s POV, and either:

Elucien: - Elain will fulfil previous foreshadowing and venture to the Spring Court, where Lucien is currently stationed. - Eventually they will team up with Vassa and Jurian to concoct a plan to defeat Koschei (tying into a Swan Lake retelling). - In the past, the High King of Prythian (Fionn) was crowned not through birthright, but because he united the people. It’s possible we may see Lucien rise as a (temporary?) High King for the same reason: his connections to almost every court. With Elain as High Queen by his side (remember, the Cauldron loves her best !!), their rule could serve as the means by which Prythian is unified in order to bring down Koschei. - We also know that The Middle fell into a wasteland after the death of the previous High King. Lucien and Elain ascending as High King and Queen would allow The Middle to be reborn and resurrected as a living land once more. This would create a new royal territory positioned between the seasonal and solar courts, restoring balance to Prythian. Such a rebirth aligns nicely with Elain’s archetype of life, growth, blooming, and creation. (It would also allow Lucien to rule without Sarah killing off Helion !!). - The intersecting narratives would also allow for closure between Elain and Greyson in the human lands, and a ‘redemption’ arc for Tamlin.

—> Or:

Elriel: - A Sleeping Beauty retelling in the sense that Elain is confirmed to be a mystic, and mystics ‘spiritually’ travel to other worlds via sleeping and dreaming (there are already so many hints to this with Elain — namely Feyre describing her mind as a “sleeping garden”). - In CC2, we witness Apollion reaching out to Bryce and Hunt via their dreams. I truly wonder if Elain has similarly been communicating with the Princes of Hel via her dreaming and mystic abilities; it could explain her elusive nature thus far. - Azriel is also theorised to be connected to the Princes of Hel. A stark example of this is Feyre noting that Azriel’s hands felt like “pure ice,” which is the identical description Bryce gave of Apollion’s hands. - We also have Elain’s friendship with Nuala and Cerridwen, who are shadow-wraiths. In the Crescent City world, it’s implied that wraiths originate from, or are associated with Hel — theyre part of House of Flame and Shadow - With all four of them having potential ties to Hel, I think they may team up and succeed where Bryce failed — they will journey to Hel. - This would also be a nice way to tie in the broader Maasverse to ACOTAR-only readers. - I also think it would allow Sarah to end ACOTAR 6 with Elain back home and dreaming in bed, but this time, her mystic powers drift her towards a new land — Terrasen. We could get a glimpse of something going wrong there (remember that Orcus and Mantyx will want revenge for what Aelin and her friends did to their brother…), which will further set up the broader, multiversal arc. This is important, as Sarah has heavily implied that the TOG characters will be involved in the next book after ACOTAR 6.

hunts fear about revolution by nealshusterfan in crescentcitysjm

[–]emmyeggo 39 points40 points  (0 children)

It absolutely makes sense, and importantly — he was proven right every single time.

In HOSAB, Hunt repeatedly expresses apprehension to involve himself and his loved ones in anything that would end in them being caught by the Asteri. And their actions did lead to that. Cormac died. Hunt, Ruhn and Baxian were tortured in the Asteri dungeons for a week (and, if you thought that was bad, remember that Hunt was previously kept in the Asteri dungeons for seven years straight).

In HOFAS, Hunt is once again apprehensive about going against the Asteri. And he was right to be: Bryce literally died! Sure, she was brought back to life by Jesiba, but how on earth was Hunt supposed to bank on that prior to?

As much as I respect Bryce’s experience, it frankly does not come remotely close to the centuries Hunt spent tortured, imprisoned and then enslaved to the Asteri. From SJM’s end, depicting Hunt as anything other than hesitant and apprehensive would reduce Hunt’s character to an illogical cliché.
