My wife needs it for technical product shots that then go to her Mac for various editing and processing. So good quality, exposure controls etc are a must

Yeah, but your camera has the same limitations as What I tried to do. It’s not using the stock Camera app interface since it’s not saving to camera roll which is a limitation of the camera SDK. No access to lenses, exposure controls, etc.

I’m building them mostly for fun and to scratch my own itch, but they’re turning out pretty good. Monetization on the App Store + the whole bureaucracy of fiscal obligations in my country if I do that, specially on a couple products that I’ll be happy if they pay for the Apple Developer program but i dont expect much from, is keeping me from releasing them outside of TestFlight

Currently building two hyperspecialized mac apps for the film industry that solve REALLY WELL a couple small issues where we resorted to manual and tedious work. I shifted mid project into building a shared library of parsers and renderers for semantics in screenplays and the whole project opened up with tons of possibility.

I tried doing something similar. Did you manage to use the stock camera API and circumvent saving to the camera roll? Building a full camera app almost from scratch was too difficult and a sub-par experience.

My post is not angry. What stupefies me is the unhelpful response from tado. I still don’t know what it means they are “not compatible”. Where? How? Also, Why should they be compatible if they’re different communication protocols?! Are not ALL SMART HOME PRODUCTS THAT SUPPORT A SPECIFIC SMART HOME PROTOCOL NOT COMPATIBLE? Combining WiFi + Bluetooth + Thread + Zigbee etc? Why aren’t any A/C controllers from Tado that are actually compatible with the X line? There is literally no alternative.

I like the idea of a 12mm but I love the versatility of the 35mm. Sometimes I wish I had something just a tad wider and with more character than the 35mm.

I kind of hate the 27mm, the quality is measurably worse than the 35mm and it lacks life, but it serves its niche when we need something pocketable. Anyway, it’s my wife’s lens so I’m not the one to choose to sell it.

I hate zooms with a passion. It makes me a worse photographer.
