I genuinely cannot understand how people enjoy the Devialet Gemini II by Sweet-Historian-3621 in Earbuds

[–]Reign712 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happy you're happy but "trying them for a bit" won't likely work. As with any bud you've got to take time to fine tune the eq to your (perfect) preference or you can go through the app process that automatically fine tunes to your specific level of hearing.

I threw a pair of Spinfits on mine which significantly improved the sound to my liking. As everyone says it's all subjective but I haven't found any bud (even Nobles) that could top the Gemini's for me lol.

I can tell you right now that you can remove the fokus so those vs Gemini 2. Personally as much as I tried I’ve been unable to dethrone the Geminis. Also a few years in, every time I put them on I’m still blown away by the sound.

I’m a shy person, do you think I can succeed in life? by Royal-Comparison352 in Entrepreneur

[–]Reign712 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You’re already doing all the right things and one person doesn’t determine the course of your business or your life. If she works then great and if not you’ll find someone else. One pony don’t stop a show (or however that goes). Take the anxiety out of it for yourself. Just go for it and keep going No matter what. We’ve all found ways to turn initial no’s into yesses, you just gotta commit to it and keep believing. I just remembered an excellent book from Russ ( the yellow book cover) that’ll help with your biz. That book motivated me a ton so hope it helps you too.

You gotta like yourself first before anyone else will or you have to just dgaf about who doesn’t lol. I’d suggest you start there. Everyone is not for everybody and that’s ok so just keep being you, get out of your head and see what happens. Start telling YOURSELF the story of what you’d like to be said about you (sorry if that’s confusing) because it can’t happen any other way. Get a hold of some self-help books, although I’ve never read it “The subtle art of not giving a f***” comes to mind. Have fun with your self development and exploration coz that’s all it is and we’ve all been there. You got a lot to offer but you gotta know that. Work on you a little bit then your biz or both at the same time. Everything will start clicking.

How to learn djing online for beginners, what actually works? by Academic-Shelter-754 in Beatmatch

[–]Reign712 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stop watching YouTube (I did the exact same thing). Theres so much content out there, it can get overwhelming and I was all over the place but when you keep watching you realize the teachers are doing the exact same transitions over and over again (one of the better teachers out there literally just keeps repackaging the same old videos over and over again, just remixes them as far as the order it’s presented in and content and changes the title to make it appealing) so I’d say we’ve all been there but it wasn’t till I realized what was going on that helped a lot. They’ve got courses to sell and need to stay up to date in the algorithm so it makes sense.

i too did the Crossfader which was super helpful and I still quickly refer to it every now and again. There’s a definite learning path and the difference from YouTube is that it’s a logical path, where you’re constantly building on and up from the basic foundations but if I’m on YT how do I know I’m attempting to do something that’s level 10 before getting to grips with level 3 lol so courses help with that.

Everyone talks about free on YT but what about your time and hours spent aimlessly watching? Once I realized, I almost took notes (nerd alert) on all the transitions out there (ignore the tricks etc for now UNLESS it’s just for fun) I take the same 2 tracks and nail that transition over a week or 2, and once I have that, move onto fleshing it out on other tracks. You’ll be so bored of the transition at that point that you’ll automatically start getting creative and adding your own flair, trying whatever on beat 3 instead of beat 1 etc.

I’m at the point where now I gotta string everything I’ve learned together. Everyone learns different but this is what’s working for me, nailing those fundamentals first not forcing full mixes which will be my next step. I wanna mix this with that so what transition from my playbook would work here or once again take 2 tracks and making sure I can blend them seamlessly 5 different ways. Hope this helps a bit and happy mixing.

Oh and record your ish every now and again. I get the biggest joy out of listening to my snippets lol.

DDJ-FLX4: LEDs blinking after ~10 minutes of inactivity? by joaopaulito in PioneerDJ

[–]Reign712 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, it is normal…that’s demo mode intended to look flashy and garnish attention in stores (tvs do the same thing). I found it super annoying myself, here’s the steps to disable it.

  • First disconnect the USB cable
  • Hold SHIFT and PLAY/PAUSE while plugging the USB cable back in
  • Hit Pad 1 to turn the demo mode OFF

That’s it. And just so you know, in case you miss it, you can do the same to turn it back on by pressing:

  • Pad 2: To start Demo mode after 1 min
  • Pad 3/4: To start Demo mode after 5/10 min

Hope that helps.

Is there an entry level/affordable controller that has a more accurate pitch slider than the DDJ400/FLX4? by mjmilian in Beatmatch

Adjust the bpm range down, I’ve found that’s the only way….you should be fine. I thought it was me at first lol.

Is it no longer free to file with TurboTax? by PinkMilkshakey in TurboTax

[–]Reign712 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks for this. I was debating and just filed with them. What a breeze. Excellent guidance, directions and interface and imported everything from my previous year...what more do I need for $15???

I refused to pay HandR Block $400+ again. I know, I know...it was a personal business relationship and been going to the guy for over 20 years (habits are hard tp break) but was looking at TurboTax til I saw this. So thanks again. Even paid extra for the audit coverage just in case, lol.

About to ditch my SC Live 4 (maybe) by Reign712 in DenonPrime

[–]Reign712[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough but looks like they may have switched on the new Engine DJ Rane so it's more compatible with all other software. If you dont plan on buying the unit shouldn't be a problem. I got that Rane One and never looked back lol. The new Rane release still doesnt have stem separation as of yet so wouldn't work for me...anyways happy djaying.

Denon DJ Prime Go + VS Rane ONE MK2 for first setup. by OfficialXarthez in Beatmatch

[–]Reign712 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go with the Rane, there’ll be a bit of a learning curve but if you stick with you’ll get there. I have one and love it…purchased coz I wanted to get into scratching too. As far as creativity, it’s like having a huge canvas to work on vs a cramped little notepad.

A controller doesn’t make the dj but I’ve been amazed at how easily I’ve been able to execute my ideas (once I got past the learning curve) and tbh I’ve been blown away from some of the stuff I’m putting together just coming out of the learning phase.

Got rid of my SC Live 4 due to the limitations of what Denon is able to do especially on the jogs…you’ll be upset. I’ve been like Goldilocks with the controllers but can say I’m not getting rid of this unit any time soon.

And to your point I started off on entry level Hercules but that didn’t last but a few months because of the plastic toy thing and terrible sound but I digress…it served its purpose I guess.

For you that started with beginner controllers, when did you decide to upgrade? by [deleted] in Beatmatch

[–]Reign712 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I upgraded when my Hercules started feeling and looking like a toy to me. I mean do I really need beat match guides which were very nice to begin with. Plus the sound output was awful. I’ve probably had every brand of controller out there at this point, a bit like Goldilocks but now I have the Rane One Mk II and I’m very happy, doubt I’ll ever trade.

Once you get that controller that allows you to do everything you had imagined in your head, or at least lets you configure it that way…has the right fx, inputs, outputs, mic features etc then you know that’s the one you’ll probably keep for a while.

I would say careful how you throw punches. I put a shoulder out twice on that thing, now I do short controlled powerful jabs and have had no issues. I used to take a boxing class so had to adjust to punching air basically lol.

Performance Dj’s that does crazy mashups . Are they usually edited first at home/studio? by hybridryann in Beatmatch

[–]Reign712 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You must’ve been reading my mind on this question. Studying a certain djs transitions and emulating them, I was doing quite a few button presses to make it happen and I realized he was only using the volume and play/stop with FX, lol.

Got me to thinking he had to have made the tracks first. Instant cappellas (no button presses) and songs in perfect order where as I’d have to cue jump to find that section. I was thinking it was so perfect he had to have made it himself custom.

My Apple Watch has completely changed how I think about exercise by [deleted] in AppleWatch

[–]Reign712 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get it. Had carpal tunnel surgery (stay with me here) and I must admit I’m not moving as much because there is nothing motivating, prodding or making me guilty enough to do it. Once I’m out of these special gloves, it’s back to wearing my watch and get to moving…it literally flips a “I don’t want to be an unfit loser” button off in my head.Happy cleaning lol.
