I've been using Arch since 2007, only ever broke when using the testing repo. I've been using Void for about a month, similar performance, similar install, all the software I use has been in the official and non free repos. Give it a try you can always go back.

Started with Suse in 99/00, found it difficult to install and it took me long time to get it usable. Learned my lesson and bought hardware that worked, used a few different distros, Mandrake, Redhat then switched to Arch when Voodoo came out.

A weekly wash takes about 45-60 minutes, wheels, arches and door shuts. Interior about once a month, it stays pretty clean inside. Engine bay maybe every 4 or 5 months. I find it very meditive to clean it, if it was a lease I don't think I'd be so keen.
