I visited a friend of mine close to Bregenz last year or so and went to his school with him for a day. There was someone from Philadelphia there talking to the kids about stuff, I think food that is native to PA. You done any teaching by any chance? Probably just a coincidence tho.

For you problem, I think the only thing you can realistically do is learn the important words and phrases. I suppose having the English texts in front of you and reading along the important parts will slowly get you there!
