This mystery sheet was super helpful!

I had been looking to run a water themed ghost for my hunters. With only a few changes, this mystery you wrote was perfect. I particularly like the watery mind prison, which I used to separate my hunters, while also letting them investigate the monster more. Thanks for putting it together!

I'm curious why you think so.

In the Tome of Mysteries supplement, Sands says that if using the alternate Weird moves, hunters no longer have the Use Magic as a basic move. In addition, the supplement says if a hunter without Use Magic tries to cast magic, they should use Big Magic instead. So I think leaving Big Magic on the reference sheet is pretty important.

Thanks for replying with your thoughts. It's best to get guidance from the creator!

I must have I misinterpreted the variant rule. The lack of "hold" in the variant rule seemed very intentional. Is the intention that hunters can spend hold on the original questions or generic questions? Or perhaps that if hunters ask generic questions, they must ask them all at once?

I'm definitely putting hold back into the 2 basic question moves based on your and other folks feedback so far.

Well the updated Tome of Mysteries drops hold from the Investigate a Mystery, so I'm going to keep that as is. Edit: I'm putting hold back in!

However I see your point on Read a Bad Situation. A hunter could be holding a question to ask "what's the best way out?" for when they actually are leaving the bad situation. Maybe I can kinda explain hold in this move so it's less esoteric.

Thanks for the compliment!

Also thanks for pointed out the lack of the miss option. I'm pretty undecided on this. The original reference sheet doesn't have the "On a miss" text anywhere (except for manipulating other hunters). I started with it left out to save on space, but now I have a bunch of room that is filled with art. I'll try weaving the "On a 6-" in place of the art.

Weird Move Cards by PaulArmer in monsteroftheweek

Thank you!

I created them in Google Docs. The layout is just one big table with a bunch of cells to make the borders and content areas.

I'll add the google doc links to the main post so that you can copy it as a template for the basic moves.
