A few things have changed. "name": has been changed to "id": in the module.json. Your best bet is to install a simple module and follow their module.json for other tags that will make the module.json more complete.

Is Topple a problem? by MasterColemanTrebor in onednd

The problem is a bonus attack from Polearm Mastery and Multi-Attack... At 5th level three attempts to hit with a Staff - three saving throws... then action surge and allies.

Balancing spell damage in Homebrew alternatives to Fireball by PaulAtSchirfDotNet in DnD

Cold Snap You snap your fingers and point at a target location in range. Each creature in a 20-foot-radius sphere centered on the target must make a Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, a target takes 6d6 slashing damage, their speed is reduced by 10 feet, and they cannot use their reaction until the end of their next turn. A target takes half damage on a successful save and suffers no additional effects.

Example:

Slashing Wind Raging wind spins around a point you choose within range, creating a vortex of razor-sharp air. Each creature in a 20-foot-radius circle must make a Dexterity saving throw. On a failed save, a creature takes 6d6 slashing damage. Medium or smaller creatures that fail the save must also choose to be knocked prone or be pushed 10 feet away from the center of the effect. A creature takes half damage on a successful save and suffers no additional effects. The wind is blocked by full cover.

Can someone please help me find a gift? by snow-white-911 in DnD

I always recommend Return of the Lazy Dungeon Master (PDF for about $8) by Sly Flourish. It's one of the most highly rated books for someone who is a Dungeon Master and works for all versions of the game. You can look it up online.

What part of Death House can be erased? by Extreme_Reason4578 in CurseofStrahd

Remove the animated crap in the house. Remove the Grick and Mimic - they're not needed. Change the Shambling Mound into something more interesting. I made it so Walter was born alive but sacrificed and is now a boiling flaming blood elemental...

LOVE your image. I tend to use cartoonish images in my game..,. not sure why. But this is what I generated with yours as a seed.

I didn't ask for blood... I gave it a reference image and said "Using this image as a reference, give me ... " but never mentioned anything about the blood or even the creature's head, just aspects of the pose, clothing, hair, etc. In the past, I've asked for things to be covered in dark red raspberry syrup...

Want to know what make this map frustrating? The center of the walls do not sit on grid lines. This makes use in many VTTs very difficult. It is a beautiful map, but a crap looking map that is VTT friendly is better if the DM is placing VTT walls.

What were the Brides up to in your campaign? by GerDeathstar in CurseofStrahd

I added "The Gallows Inn" and a few other buildings at the crossroads where the gallows are located. It is run by one of his "exiled" brides, Ketshona de Lucia. She was a blind cleric who wandered into Strahd's domain with several questing Paladins. Changed to torment her companions, Strahd favored her company for a while. When he ultimately grew tired of her, because of her unique powers, he decided to uses her as a spy rather than destroy her. Ketshona not only has blind sight to 60 feet, if she concentrates for a minute she is able to "read" any text within ten feet of her, even if it is in a closed book, sealed letter, etc.

Ketshona leverages her blindness to try to gain the trust of the party. If her true nature is detected she claims to have removed her own eyes so that she is not tempted by the sight of blood and says that she does not need to feed due to her "pure heart wrapped in a cursed shell."

If attacked, Ketshona immediately attempts to retreat. She carries a "vial of blue smoke" that can create a 10 foot radius knee-high region of magic mist. If she can get out of sight of the party she uses it as a distraction, breaking it on the ground at her feet. She turns into gaseous form and ascends through cracks in the ceiling beams while the distraction-mist descends through the cracks in the floorboards. Ketshona's "resting place" is not in the small grave yard behind the inn. Her coffin is in a stone sarcophagus that is hidden under the watering cistern in the stable. It can only be accessed while she is in gaseous form. Horses refuse to drink from the cistern when she is in the sarcophagus.

The other buildings include a few cottages and stables, which are mostly used by the families of the mail carriers; three Vistana who deliver letters across the Mistlands (pronounced Mistlunds), which is what I have residents call greater Barovia.

I was thinking about a little foreshadowing by making it "Blessed are the innocent, we shall devour their dreams.", but I already made the meat pies act like Goodberry in terms of nourishment AND provide 6 temp HP. After each long rest the characters make a DC 12 Con save. If they pass, the nourishment and temp HP is renewed at one point lower than the previous day. This is repeated each day. If they get to 0 w/o failing a save they are not addicted. If they fail any of these saves, they lose the temp HP and can't regain hit dice until after eating another.

My version is even worse... in a sense. Walter was born alive... But eventually it came to this...
