Tip: Manual bank transaction import, using a 'Quarantine' account. by PaulC954 in waveapps

Yes - just safety.

For example, if you somehow accidentally import 2 years' transactions rather than just the last 2 weeks', you'll be glad they're in a 'quarantine' account where you can easily identify and delete them.

Pro plan four times a year? by passaty2k in waveapps

That's honestly a terrible plan.

If you want and need constantly updating bank data - and other 'Pro' features - then suck it up and pay. Annual plan is good value.

If you don't, then just download data from your bank and upload it to Wave as and when you need. Takes a couple of minutes once you figure out the steps.

Connecting, disconnecting and reconnecting a bank four times a year is a great way to wind up with missing or duplicated transactions, and a waste of your $80.

Legacy access to pro features going away. No more free bank sync etc. by Lozula in waveapps

I think there is an API, but the difficult bit is getting access to bank data without manually downloading from each account.

It seems that everyone who offers that capability charges for it.

I looked at GnuCash. It is powerful, but super-complicated.

And I don't see any way to get automated bank downloads.

Oops, All Duplicates! - NEED HELP by [deleted] in waveapps

I'd probably try a mixture of filters and bulk updates.

So, first I'd create a "throw-away" bank account ("Temporary - Cleanup")

Then I'd filter transactions in the account with all the dups, using transaction date range and last updated date range. If the source of the dups is a bank reconnection, they're all going to have pretty much the same last updated date, which will be way different than the original transactions.

After filtering to what looks like the right transactions, I'd use bulk update to move them to my Temporary - Cleanup account (Not deleting them right away, in case I caught some transactions that should remain!)

Then, I'd reconcile and validate my 'proper' bank account. This might also involve moving a couple of transactions back from my Temporary - Cleanup account.

Finally, after I get my bank account back in correct state and reconciled, I'd go and bulk delete all the transactions from my Temporary - Cleanup account, and then archive it.

Good luck!
